In reality, failures in natural gas, coal and nuclear energy systems were responsible for nearly twice as many outages as frozen wind turbines and solar panels, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which operates the state’s power grid, said in a press conference Tuesday.

Or anywhere else for that matter, just another ridicules scheme to tear this country down!!!!
If this is what it takes to discredit the Green New Deal, so be it. I’m sick of playing by the rules of fairness and honesty when the Left doesn’t.
In this case, we had close calls in the past due to natural gas powerplants not being able to operate in cold weather, while that is NOT the case in most of the rest of the country. But lobbyists rule Texas*, and without a doubt, they convinced the regulators to NOT REQUIRE cold weather operation of the plants - after all that costs money and it it means ‘more regulations’ to comply with. So, after a few martinis over lunch, the state agreed.
*for anyone doubting that, try walking one block from the state capitol building in Austin and look at what you see all around you - the offices of lobbyists.

Oh, yea, one other thing: DEFINITELY Not Guilty!
I try to advocate for Gen IV reactors whenever possible.
For transparency, I do electrical distribution design so it doesn’t matter the generation source for me. Lines in the air, and cables in the ground...
Thank you!!!
And what happened here was failure to winterize any of the crap pre-2010 stuff — nat gas, coal, nuclear — AND the turbines and solar panels. 3 of our 4 nuclear plants stayed online. The fourth was undergoing maintenance and got brought back online yesterday, it will be at full operations later today.
For most of TX south of the Waco-San Angelo-Tyler line, that made economic sense. Most of the stuff in the Panhandle, North Texas and West TX was winterized and continued working. But who in the hell could have projected that turbines sitting in the heat sink of the Gulf Of Mexico would freeze up! This freeze is killing the Gulf sea turtles too.
The systems that were unprotected against 0 degree temps failed. Old and new. I love my friends that are in the oil & gas biz, but it simply is not accurate to blame the wind farms failing for what has happened here.
Colorado law requires all “renewables” have Fossil Fuel back up.
Really....she was just elected....She has produced about the same as some of her colleagues have in 30 years!!!
“wouldn’t it have made sense to use wind generators that work in winter?”
As I understand it the wind turbines in Texas have a de-icing feature available that might have helped with freeze up, but Texas for some reason opted to NOT have that feature installed on their wind turbines.
Heard that yesterday either on OANN or newsmax.
Somebody wanted to save $$ I would assume.
That’s my point. He was saying she’s “the best in the House right now”. How so?
As I said, she is great at talking and PR.
Time will tell how things unfold.
What did Lauren say that you disagree with?
“This is an editorial. Not an article presented with facts from differing experts. We are being told what to think/believe, not given facts for us to make up our own minds.”
Writing things like this will get you put on “THE LIST.” (See Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for further details.) I attended a mandatory (diversity or inclusion, or something along those lines,) session at General Dynamics. We were being presented with “facts” that were not “facts” and essentially told what to think. Someone in this huge audience said something that, in philosophy, sounded very similar to what you wrote. The presenter, the HR manager, snapped back with, “You better be careful or you will be sentenced to reeducation.” A palpable ripple wafted through the attendees and the low noise level dropped to absolute, pin drop, silence. You could see from the HR manager’s expression that he realized he had made a serious mistake. He stammered, “Just joking.” He made it through a few more slides, but you could see he really wanted it over and one of his cadre suggested that we break for lunch, even though lunch was an hour and a half away.
After that, they turned over the indoctrination to a company team headed by a genuine communist. Yep, talked to him and it was like you had taken the most diehard religious proselytizer and substituted communist doctrine for theology. He was a nice looking young man from Nicaragua, who was dedicated to making the world into paradise. Talking to him made my scalp prickle as he genuinely believed what he said. Unsaid, was that if, at some point, we did not “convert” we would all need to be killed.
Wind turbines would be a good choice for the future state of DC having a continuous supply of hot air coming from the Capitol.
Yes please! LOL! Orange Woman Bad!
Diversity used to be about earned respect. Now it’s headed in the wrong direction and as described reeks of totalitarianism
Ole Joey the great United could care less as he is all about the title of President and not the real responsibility.
Camels 🐪 is sainting for her underaged turn to further lecture the masses.
With her quotes/posts in the article? Nothing.
Renewables are largely unreliable with respect to base load.
The only thing missing was the lack of winterization of the other sources. Everyone here thinks the Green New Deal is a complete disaster if it passes.
I was posting to the OP, and his pic & comment.
A lot of guys here aren’t using their primary brain with respect to her. Cult of personality is for Democrats, not Conservatives.
Actually, they said Puzzlingly.
but still...
The fourth was undergoing maintenance and got brought back online yesterday, it will be at full operations later today.
Any data on MW’s that one produces?
Terminated by the enemydia and replaced by leftist lies and propaganda. "Uncle Walter" was a significant contributor to that, but it goes back to the enemydia covering up FDR's health problems, and even back to the reporters in Woodrow Wilson's time.
