Dan’s Bake Sale. The song parodies. His Bill Clinton imitation. His analysis of football teams and games (when it was still about the game). His skewering of the Dems. On and on. He was smart as a whip, on the top of his game all the time, hilarious, insightful, and always fun to listen to.

Damn 2021. Lost my wonderful dog in January and now Rush is gone. I’m drowning in sadness.

I remember the Dan’s Bake Sale event on Rush’s show. Whatever happened to “Dan”? Did he become a regular Rush caller or guest? I lost track of him...

Consequently, the three most important people, the ones who really led us to where we are right now were Ronald Reagan, Rush Limbaugh and Donald Trump.

No question.

NO question at all.

I don’t recall when exactly it was, but Ted Kennedy was on a jetty, I believe, and someone came close to drowning. A boat came near the jetty to rescue the person, and Ted was warning them away from the rocks. Rush made a crack about the irony of the captain of the USS Oldsmobile standing on shore, trying to keep a boat from running aground.

I still have my Dan’s bake sale pin when I attend the event with my dad. It was hard to hear rush standing on the podium with the size of the crowd but we were just happy to attend and see all the people who can out.

The first time I heard of Rush was when he was on WPOP in Hartford. Yes, not WTIC, his long time station in Hartford. My dad told me to listen to him. I did and our business was a Rush Room.

Funny story, I was doing a show in NY City, so I decided to listen to him on my radio so I turned it to WABC. The dealer next to me told me to shut it off, I never did. At the end of the show (2 weeks), the guy said 'I never knew he agreed with me. I got to listen to him.' I don't know if he listened, since it was the first and last time we did that show.

Another funny story. My ex stepson (who was 16 at the time) had to work (a bagger at a now defunct supermarket chain), so his mom let him take the bus to Maine (to meet us for vacation). Anyway, he took Rush's book 'The Way Things Ought To Be' to read on the bus. In Boston, waiting for the bus to Maine, he was reading it, when a creep told him he should be reading that. Stepson looked at him and the guy was reading a Bostongay magazine. Stepson moved away from creep (last time he took a bus). I think the creep was looking for runaways.

I also remember Dan’s call and Rush coming up with the idea of doing the bake sale, as I recall the libs were promoting doing bake sales for some cause and this was Rush’s response.

I was surprised the Rush never promoted more of them or really talked about the bake sale. Except a few years ago I heard Rush comment that he was really disappointed with Dan only bringing one bag of cookies when he could have sold thousands.

My Freeper sister from Longmont...

So sorry to hear she passed.

If you would please jog my memory and remind me, what was her Freeper name?

“as I recall the libs were promoting doing bake sales for some cause”

To help reduce the deficit.

MollynMe. There's a poem with a line "Molly & me & Baby makes three". And she lived alone with her black Cocker Spaniel named Molly, so it was an appropriate pun.

She took part in many Operation Infinite Freep street activism events in the 00's, starting with the Gore No More protests of Nov & Dec 2000. She handmade all her signs with poster board, stencils, etc.

I should also point out that her 40th birthday was the day of Dan’s Bake Sale.

...street activism events in the 00's...

Yes, I remember now, thank you.

I believe I met her at fivetoes flag wave on North College Ave.

May God bless her and fivetoes, (he's gone too).

I was reminded of how often President Trump would say during the 2016 campaign and even since, “we’re going to win so much, you’re going to get sick of winning.”

Well, we sure haven’t had any wins in a very long time, especially losing the election and now our dear Rush. It’s getting worse. How soon we’ll forget what winning was once like.

Thank you!

Yes, I was the first Freeper at the College & Mulberry gathering every Saturday from 12 to 1 (or 2 or 3), a week after the local VFW post first took up flags and Support-Our-Troops signs to counteract the alleged "pacifist" hypocrites across the street. FiveToes joined not long after, and started publicizing the event on FR. We soon had TRTeamer, WeldGOPHardline, FireEngineRed, SoftEngine, RMRattlesnake, and a few others as regulars on that corner.

Fivetoes expanded his sidewalk Freeps to his hometown of Loveland, and from there it led to regular counter-Leftist Freeps in Greeley and Longmont. Also occasionally in other Front Range locations, ranging from Denver to Cheyenne.
