With four out of twenty Republican senators facing the voters in 2022 announcing they are stepping down, speculation has been rampant in the last few weeks that Iowa’s seven-term Sen. Chuck Grassley will soon become the fifth retiree.

Well it’s better to keep the seat and have the Governor replace if necessary then risk some new candidate who could lose.
Just retire already.
I guess he’s pining for that state funeral like Sheets Byrd and McCain.
I am a native Iowan and I love Senator Grassley, but like Pelosi he is a little old for the job.
ould he live those 6 years? Probably. 2028 would be a POTUS year so momentum should help us. Too many new races to fight for won’t help. Then there’s the grandson with the same name mentioned. I dunno about dynasties but a small state shouldn’t hurt. The same name suggests the voters don’t know they’re not the same person.
Term limits!
He’s 140 years old or thereabouts. Just retire already!
You want the seat for 12 years not 6. Look at Thune after 2 terms-now he wants 4. Is there a good bench? Mid-term with the other party in the WH works to our advantage. Then there’s the business as usual factor. Give credit to Burr and Toomey for smelling the tea leaves. If Lisa could just do the same.
You think we should keep the useless rinos, so we don’t get a useless democrat?
It’s that kind of thinking that got us where we are today.
GET RID OF HIM IN THE PRIMARIES
Only a fraction of voters vote in primaries. Just a few DOZEN people can change the outcome in many cases.
Mr. K-you should name names. Blunt and Boozman would be risky. Thune and Lankford not so. Use your head.
Hard to keep ‘em down on the farm after they’ve seen DC
Conservatives should find MAGA candidates to run in BOTH parties’ primaries, not just the R’s.
We have to stop allowing Deep State to pick our candidates for us.
we risk what?
losing the rino’s who have been useless?
Use YOUR head.
Who’s going to step up and confront Hoeven and Thune? They’re just too scared. ‘Friends’ on the right will join the lefties and call them extreme.
It's a rigged system
Those losses last 6 years. I think future Rino’s will be kept in line by guess who? As for the ‘few dozen’ that would make a difference: If 600 of us showed up for Kelly Ayotte(NH) we wouldn’t be having this discussion. 2 terms will go far to keep them in line-that will ‘unring’ it. It’s on us.
**I am a native Iowan and I love Senator Grassley, but like Pelosi he is a little old for the job.**
I don’t know how you can compare the two; Nanzi has been poison for our nation’s well being ever since she first became a politician.
She is possessed by the devil, having a soul that is a spiritual whore for Satan:
“Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.” Proverbs 30:20
Instead of term limits, I'd love to see a barrier on consecutive terms in both the House and Senate. One on, one off, no moving from house to senate and back again to beat the system either. If they have to chose between moving back to their home state after each term or finding a job in DC until they're eligible again for a home state gig, it would do a lot for stemming the growth of central government. Of course, they would find a way around it eventually but it would buy America some time.
