Term limits!
You want the seat for 12 years not 6. Look at Thune after 2 terms-now he wants 4. Is there a good bench? Mid-term with the other party in the WH works to our advantage. Then there’s the business as usual factor. Give credit to Burr and Toomey for smelling the tea leaves. If Lisa could just do the same.
Instead of term limits, I'd love to see a barrier on consecutive terms in both the House and Senate. One on, one off, no moving from house to senate and back again to beat the system either. If they have to chose between moving back to their home state after each term or finding a job in DC until they're eligible again for a home state gig, it would do a lot for stemming the growth of central government. Of course, they would find a way around it eventually but it would buy America some time.
