That is extremely disappointing but not unexpected I guess. Sad that he turned into a swamp creature. He represented Iowa well, for a time. That time is long gone.

I know and the primary numbers are the same. Trying to remove an incumbent has about a 3-4% success rate. Feel free to post a rosier outlook if you can find one.

42 years ? Try what will be 64. He’s been in elective office continually since he first won a seat in the IA House in 1958. After 16 years in the legislature, he went to D.C. in 1974 and has been there ever since.
His grandson is the IA House Speaker, and when Grassley kicks off (as he is likely to do), he’ll probably be named to grandpa’s seat.
