A new study shows some COVID-19 patients end up with damage to their brains, shedding new light on how the virus impacts the human body.
"I think it is critically important that we study this population properly," said Dr. Avi Nath, the lead researcher on this study and clinical director of the National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. "We hope these results will help doctors understand the full spectrum of problems patients may suffer so that we can come up with better treatments."
Some COVID-19 patients report non-respiratory symptoms after contracting the virus, including headaches, delirium and mental fog.
Nath and his team at the National Institutes of Health used special, high-powered brain scans to look at the brains of people who died after contracting COVID-19. This was the first study of its kind in the country, published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

No, my friend was an active senior. She stayed home from March till this year when she fell and went to the hospital. She contracted covid, was in ICU in a coma on a vent. EEG showed brain damage days before she died. This is real. We buried he her last week.
I also have a friend—actually my daughter’s friend’s mom who got it and was in ICU for 8 weeks and then a rehab center for 3 or 4 weeks. She was on oxygen but I don’t think a vent. She is home now. She was active and 63.
You are right—it is not a hoax (tho lefties are using it for leverage). And being hospitalized now is very scary...I am taking the Zelenko/IMASK protocol—tho have not yet taken the Ivermectin. I too have been staying home for the most part...Trying to social distance and build immune system.
Stay safe, warm and healthy!
Freegards!
Their sample is people who died of COVID.
Well, those are people who had a severe case and were eaten up by the virus.
I had COVID and it was basically being extremely tired and mildly feverish for about 5 days. (And by extremely tired, I mean I slept 20 hours a day.) Also the weird smell loss.
Then I was fine.
i believe this. my ex had covid. she is cray cray!!!
That is what state-of-the-art bioengineering can do...
Finally!!
I had it in Jan. 2020. In the hospital for 12 days including a quad bypass to assist damaged organs (and a partially blocked artery). After the operation I had stroke-like problems while in the hospital. Mostly vision and walking. Flashes of light, color blotches, etc.
When I got out I thought I’d had TBI from the operation and day in ICU. I had to learn to walk again. For months I swung my legs and slapped my feet just like a recovering TBI from an IED. Cardiologist thinks it could also be ‘pump head’ but I don’t think it’s all of that. And my home health care workers who support post-OP bypass patients did not think it was ICU or pump related.
I still lose my balance a lot and wobble/stumble when I walk but it’s getting better. Long, slow climb back. I ain’t complaining tho.
Your comment makes no sense.
Falling seems the relevant etiological component.
Amen, my daddy used to say “dont believe anything you hear and half of what you see”... enters the internet!!!!!!
“Another scare tactic to keep us isolated and masked up?”
Yes. They’ve been hyping this for months.
Here’s the thing. Cold and flu viruses do the same thing but it’s not news and a NINDS researcher isn’t going to get a higher budget pushing viral brain damage from the flu or common cold.
Other than not being truthful, that’s a great argument.
First of all, I’m so very sorry for the loss of your friend. I asked the question because I haven’t seen a story on this new report anywhere except local media from yesterday. I have seen nothing from the national media. There are FReepers who do little else but report on this pandemic and I have seen nothing from them on this study.
So, I had to ask the question due to my own personal skepticism.
Something something Bill Gates microchips.
Something something 5G mind control.
Something something changing DNA.
that is not a mystery, obviously the lack of oxygen due to extreme pneumonia affects the brain
What about China Flu contracted by the experimental “vax”?
I’m so sorry to hear what you are going through! Did your doctors give you any medicine BEFORE you ended up in the hospital?
There may be problems for survivors, but this is about dead people, who may have died with, or of COVID. It's not clear which.
So who experiences this problem? Elderly? Frail?
Surely the Dr who examined all of these brains, of the deceased, with his ‘high powered’ scans tells us, in the article.
I did NOT click on the link, so I have no idea.
Study shows non Wuhan patients also have brain damage
“..patients end up with damage to their brains...”
Subject & object are both plural.
I knew two guys who died of strokes that were pretty clearly caused by COVID. First was mid-70’s, diabetic and a little overweight but not obese. Second was 80, in otherwise perfect health. Didn’t even have hypertension.
Both made it through the viral phase just fine, but became thrombolitic after about 10 days. Strokes were both sudden, though neither had been hospitalized. One has to wonder if they had been properly dosed with LMW Heparin or another anti-thrombolitic if they would have been OK.
From the article....
The researchers examined the brains of 19 people who died anywhere from several hours to two months after reporting symptoms. They ranged in age from five to 73 years old....

So, not all elderly :-(
