That’s good eatin’.
This is news? Bison pretty much roam where they want. Like Bears. Or Moose. Avoid them all.
I’ve seen people at Yellowstone walk right up to Moose to get photos. I’ve never hung around to see the aftermath. Morons. Moose my be the most dangerous creatures in the Rockies.
It happens. Wildlife, is sometimes wild, in the wilderness. Too bad our pussified society freaks out on things like this.
I went and spent a week there. You see a lot of them there. And they are yuge. They are mostly used to people but could hurt you easily if they wanted. Heck they could hurt you if your in your car.
How stupid can you be? (That is not a challenge!)
When I was in Fort Hood, they warned us to stay away from the bison and to mount up (in armored vehicles) if they came close. They’re big, they’re irritable and they can stomp you flat.
Buffalo definitely have right-of-way.
Bison live there, the people are intruders.
A friend from my hometown in Montana was snowmobiling in West Yellowstone and went around a clump of bushes at high speed and hit a buffalo straight on. He survived but with extensive brain injuries. He was in a coma for a month or so and has been recovering mental capacity for decades. American Bison are to be respected and given space. There wasn’t a summer that went by without a tourist getting gored in Yellowstone Park every summer trying to pet one of them.
Beats rollerskates
Wow how beautiful.
This is nothing new. Had friends that would drive snowmobiles along within herds (unwillingly but unharmed). They drove slightly faster than the plodding buffalo and made no sudden movements to spook them.
City dwellers that buy their meat in plastic packaging and visit petting zoos have a false sense of security around wild animals.
No, getting that close to bison isn't smart. I recall once having a number of them running down and across a dirt road I was driving on in SD. And I couldn't make my dog stop barking at them.
Idiots.
These are guided tours, I’ve been here there on that exact type of snowmobile trip three times. The guide would not deliberately take the snowmobilers in to the path, but the buffalo could have moved up onto them as the group may have slowed to look at them.
We did too, but we were in our car
A whole huge herd crossed the main highway in Yellowstone while we were there ( it probably happens often)
Bison in Texas - knew they were around the caprock in the panhandle, surprised they are around Ft Hood
I’ve seen moose circle up in feb above treeline, protection from wolves. I’d ride around the 50 foot circle on skandic. They seemed to know I was no harm. Moose here at house look in my windows all the time. No joke the yearlings chase & play with my plott. The young ones are amazed at big screen on the wall. They watch the tv for 15 minutes or so. In the summer, I can feed them apples; but they growl at you if you touch them. I talk to the local moose all the time; never would shoot them.
People can get lured into thinking bison are slothful creatures but oh contrare mon frère! Bison, from a standstill, jump over 5 feet. Bison are quick and agile creatures at a run and can kill you then go back to grazing. Bison are wild creatures that are dangerous, especially when provoked. They may not be a mountain lion but a single mountain knows to stay away from an adult bison.
