A friend from my hometown in Montana was snowmobiling in West Yellowstone and went around a clump of bushes at high speed and hit a buffalo straight on. He survived but with extensive brain injuries. He was in a coma for a month or so and has been recovering mental capacity for decades. American Bison are to be respected and given space. There wasn’t a summer that went by without a tourist getting gored in Yellowstone Park every summer trying to pet one of them.
City dwellers that buy their meat in plastic packaging and visit petting zoos have a false sense of security around wild animals.
I’ve seen moose circle up in feb above treeline, protection from wolves. I’d ride around the 50 foot circle on skandic. They seemed to know I was no harm. Moose here at house look in my windows all the time. No joke the yearlings chase & play with my plott. The young ones are amazed at big screen on the wall. They watch the tv for 15 minutes or so. In the summer, I can feed them apples; but they growl at you if you touch them. I talk to the local moose all the time; never would shoot them.
