WASHINGTON, Friday, Feb. 15.

The report of the Committee of One from each State to the Peace Conference to-day was presented and ordered printed. The members of the Committee who disagree with the majority, stated at length their objections to the propositions of settlement, but declined making any minority report. Col. SEDDON, of Virginia, Judge RUFFIN, of North Carolina, and Gen. DONIPHAN, of Missouri, refused to sign the report, and it is understood that the delegations from these States will vote against it. Maryland, Kentucky and Tennessee will vote for it, and it will probably be adopted by a majority of States represented in the Conference. It is understood that Messrs. TYLER, SEDDON and BROCKENBROUGH will urge the Virginia Convention to reject the proposition. Messrs. RIVES and SUMMERS will recommend its adoption.

Information from Richmond leaves the character of the Convention there in great doubt. Both parties seem to be somewhat disappointed, so far as any views have been expressed, and the purpose of the Convention cannot be known until the propositions have been submitted and action had thereon.

An intelligent member of the Conference informs me that their proceedings may be terminated any day, but cannot continue more than three or four days longer. Mrs. TYLER left for home this afternoon, and Mr. TYLER expects soon to follow. The plan reported by the Committee is a mixture of GUTHRIE'S and CRITTENDEN'S, and will stand no chance of adoption by the present Congress.

Gov. DENISON, of Ohio, has appointed Attorney-General WOLCOTT Peace Commissioner from that State, vice WRIGHT, deceased. WOLCOTT is here to attend to the Ohio-Kentucky fugitive slave case before the Supreme Court.

A lot of interesting items in "today's" news!

"Reliable information was received here this afternoon from the South to the effect that no attack will be made on Forts Sumter and Pickens until after Mr. Lincoln's inaugural address has been delivered, and not then unless it foreshadows coercion, or an attempt shall be made to reinforce these posts."

Threats of war from the Confederacy's earliest days.

And speaking of war:

"The Naval Committee of the House of Representatives have before them a proposition from Wm. Rice, of Pennsylvania, for the introduction into naval architecture of iron frames in lieu of frames of live oak.
It is argue4d that the live-oak frames, taking into account the length of time it is stored before use, and the cutting of it away to suit the mould, costs more than iron...that they will last twice as long as live oak, and when worn out have some value as old iron; and that in the aggregate the saving by use of iron frames would be about fifty percent."

I don't know... iron clad is one thing, iron frames might still be an idea ahead of its time.

"Progress of the War – 6"

It appears that the town of Winooski, Vermont is raising up troops to be armed with Sharp's rifles and colt pistols to defend against expected attacks and also for an expedition to retake Florida, providing, first, that the alligators there are removed.

Or, who knows, maybe it's only the tongues from the alligators' cheeks to be removed... ;-)

Iron framed ships? That’s just crazy talk. Everyone knows iron is denser than wood. Such ships will surely sink as soon as they hit the water.
