The power plants shut down due to emissions produced a minuscule amount of pollution. After you eliminate 98-99% pollution, it becomes uneconomical to go after the remaining. There are thousands of megawatts lying around unavailable due to unreasonable regulations. But who are we to argue with the great minds of Algore and Greta?
Yet, I find it hard to believe that the people of any prior era, if shown the advantages of nuclear, coal and gas, would have opted for wind and solar instead.
