The Who have cancelled their UK and Ireland tour that was scheduled for next month.
The 10-date jaunt, which was due to kick off in Dublin on March 5 and end in Manchester on March 29, will no longer go ahead due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
“Please excuse the delay but we wanted to wait as long as possible to see if we could indeed play them. However, as you can see the current situation makes this impossible. Thanks for all your wonderful support and we hope to see you in the future when conditions allow.”

Imagine if nations had just tried this in the 1960s.
Woodstock? There’s a pandemic going on!

Little Richard beat them all. He retired in 1957. And again in the 60s. And 70s...

Watching aging rock stars strut around the stage in their 50s and 60s (at $200+ a pop for a ticket) just never appealed to me. I like to see live music with artists still in their prime.
Don't get me wrong, I love listening to their catalogs, but have no desire to see them perform live. I go out on the YouTube to catch them when they were in their prime.

The one good thing about you tube is watching musicians when they were in their prime!

The Pete and Roger tour is still worth seeing, though they're not really what The Who once was. What they once were were the greatest rock and roll band ever to take a stage.
Check out this performance. Three instruments and a vocalist, and they put out a monstrous explosion of straight rock and roll like nobody else could.

Why on Earth are they touring again? Townshend is deaf. Daltrey’s voice is a croak. What have they got left to prove? That “My Generation” is now the anthem of the AARP?
To: mylife
Did you really want to see a couple of guys in their 70’s who hoped they die before they got old?

Technically, only their 82 Tour was their Farewell Tour. They’ve backed off being the goodbye girls since then.

LOL.
Speaking of aging rock stars, I haven’t heard about the Stones recently. But I think Mick Jagger must be pushing 80. And they were still doing shows in recent years. I can only imagine he and people like him have some incredible physical regimen, to still be strutting around like that.

A few years ago I went and saw Smokey Robinson and Martha Reeves and a few other artists. Smokey was ok but Martha should have retired some time ago. The show wasn’t great but since it was free I couldn’t complain too much.

I blame BOC for a good portion of my hearing loss. 3rd row center for the Secret Treaties tour IIRC.

Is this an informed opinion, based on actual data like
this vid of Roger or
this one of Pete where they are not croaking and or deaf, respectively?
Or are you convicting without evidence like the Dems do? /s

Pete and Roger have been pretty honest about their situation...they're not trying to be like 20-yr olds and Pete isn't trashing guitars. They know they are old. In fact I heard at a 2014 gig Pete introduced Slip Kid by saying "half of you weren't even born when I wrote this song."
But as recently as 2019 they were STILL rocking way better than your average punter half their age. From these recent clips of of Pete and Roger, while they aren't the guys from the 70s, they also aren't washed up old guys in their 70s.
