Thinking of purchasing an Anderson Bearcreek Arsenal (BCA) 5.56 AR-15. Any pros or cons? The more research I do, the more I like the 5.56 vs. the .223 even though they're supposed to be interchangeable.
My concerns are purchasing and then finding out any accessories may be proprietary and expensive like sights, additional magazines etc.
Think about the wylde barrel.

You can use .223 or 5.56 in a 5.56 gun, but not the reverse.
In a .223 gun, you can only use .223
The .223 Wylde would be the exception.
there are major ammo shortages, so choose wisely. there are NO primers for reloading available on earth. Powder is very limited. It took me 6 weeks to find 2 lbs of A2200. so, buy the all the ammo you need for a few years, then buy the gun.
Depends on the barrel design if they are interchangeable.
First AR? I’m assuming you mean Anderson lower, BCA upper. I’d jump on it, if the price is anywhere near reasonable. Ammo can be had in dribs and drabs..I would think the rifle would be milspec. Shouldn’t be any surprises.
Meaningful difference: 5.56 is built for higher pressures than .223; get the 5.56 so you don’t have to worry about what you’re feeding it (since high-pressure 5.56 ammo will fit just fine in a .223 chamber/barrel not built to survive it).
Buy the 5.56.

5.56 and .223 aren’t completely interchangeable. The practical difference is if the barrel is .223 you should not use 5.56 due to possible excessive pressure. A 5.56 barrel can handle the pressures of either round. 5.56 also has ‘looser’ dimensions to guarantee all the different makes of 5.56 ammo will fit. This comes at a small price of lesser accuracy, which won’t mean much unless you are precision shooting out past 100 yards.
You will find by doing some research that there is no SAAMI spec on 5.56 ammo, and if you measure different makes of ammo, they will have a wide range of ogive lengths, overall lengths, and even some of the case dimensions. Thus the need for a ‘sloppy’ 5.56 chamber.
.223 on the other hand has a SAAMI spec, well specified chamber and cartridge dimensions, and works much better if you are trying to precision shoot, which you would probably be using a bolt action for, not a semi-auto.
If you can pay a little more and get something better than BCA. You might get lucky but they have a reputation for poor quality control.
They're both fine.
As others have said, get the 5.56.
I dont know where you are, but i have not seen any ammo with those numbers for months.
BCA makes a side charger and the bcg is proprietary, but everything else is standard mil spec
It appears to be Mil Spec so you should be good to go.
You’ll have no problem finding parts if ever needed.
