For the love of America, stop playing the national anthem before sporting events

I love America, I support the troops, and I want sports teams to stop playing the national anthem before every game.

It's not an act of genuine patriotism, it's a ritual of joyless conformity.

End the obligatory performances and shame-enforced head-bowing. For the love of America, make the "Star Spangled Banner" mean something again.

Refuting patriotism is for scum who would benefit by it but not willing to pay or even acknowledge it, preferring to flip this best nation on earth the bird.

This rag is undoubtedly in the cabal that wants to continue flooding the country with non-productive vermin...
Otherwise known as cheap labor and easy votes...

Just another “takeaway” before the NWO becomes a reality. Sooner than one thinks . . .just remember what follows.

“Government should stay out of the private sector.”

Government ‘stayed out of the private sector’ and with that, Facebook, Google, Twitter, and others manufactured a DEMOCRAT WIN.

I’m sick of this Libertarian shit, and if that bothers you, tough. If you can’t stand for 3 minutes to respect the United States, it’s history, and the millions who died for us, go live in Somalia.

"End the obligatory performances and shame-enforced head-bowing."

No one is shamed into bowing their head or putting their hand over their heart. You are just asked to stand, remain silent, and stop eating popcorn for about 90 seconds.

I think a couple of our tv stations have the anthem at midnight. A couple radio stations play it at noon.

Absolutely not!

I propose a simple solution to this protest/respect conflict. I propose a moment of silence before the Anthem for respectful protest, prayer, or reflection. Players and fans may take a knee as part of their protest. Then, all rise for the playing of the National Anthem to show respect for the country, its freedoms, and the veterans who protect those freedoms.

I understand exactly how this guy feels.

I honestly never understood the point of having the national anthem at sporting events other than those involving military academies, national teams, etc.

I’ve been to plenty of sporting events over the years, and saw too many cases involving fans who were outwardly respectful and patriotic for the national anthem ... and then spent the next three hours making complete asses of themselves in public.

Quit going to or watching sporting events put on by people who hate you and America.

Pay homage to our new owners—sing the Chinese national anthem—in Chinese—or your social credit score drops to zero.

I’m all for banning urban yodelers who take 5 painful minutes to butcher the anthem. Make it quick and big band traditional, like at the Olympics. But don’t ban it.

I agree. Players in the locker room, play the National Anthem with proper respect, release the players. End of problem.

For people that scream unity endlessly, this was THE seminal moment of American unity until the NFL idiocracy ruined it. All people, colors, social status and political party would stop and honor the country and our millions who have a sacrificed. This is ruined for at least the foreseeable future.

Post 9-11 real men of all colors roared out of the tunnel, tears in eyes, carrying the flag to universal cheers. Now, it is divided. Divided every which way possible.

Professional sports are a business. The organist can play along while the fans, players, coaches, and owners sing a song to money, a la Dr. Teeth on 'The Muppet Show'.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nrSfC76lLI

...Don't want my name in the Hall of Fame,
Just want a big fat pile of money.

...Give me that almighty dollar,
for that lettuce hear me holler.

...I wanna get me a suit that's made out of loot
And whistle the wearing of the green.

... Wanna live in regal splendor, with that lovin' legal tender,
Give me money, money, money, money, money.
