2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is on its way to dealers now

And the 2021 Mustang lineup as a whole is here with a handful of changes.

Rejoice, pony car fans. The first cars from a limited batch of 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 models is now on its way to dealers, the automaker said on Thursday. The Blue Oval said the first cars left the assembly plant and are en route to dealers as you read this, plus it detailed a few other changes to the 2021 Mustang.

We already know the whole story surrounding the bridge-building Mustang Mach 1, but those shopping other ponies will find some changes. For instance, the latest Mustang Shelby GT500 now features an optional Carbon Fiber Handling Package. As the name implies, it adds, well, carbon fiber and more handling gear. Specifically, the package bundles 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels, adjustable strut top mounts, a Gurney flap and more.

For both the standard Mustang and Shelby, buyers can also choose to coat their cars in new Grabber Yellow, Antimatter Blue and Carbonized Gray Metallic paints. The Mustang Mach 1, meanwhile, introduces its exclusive Fighter Jet Gray hue. These aren't major changes, to be sure, but it's always fun to see Ford updating the color palette to keep the Mustang fresh. Grabber Yellow, in particular, looks quite good.

The official build and price tool is live for all Mustang models as of this morning, so you can click through and build your dream 2021 Mustang, should you so desire.

Carbon fiber is more like fiberglass than it is like plastic.

Carbon fiber is what eventually comes out of you when the sawbones pushes Oxy Pain pills onya for too long.

“I remember the acronym as Fix Or Repair Daily”

Back in that day my father bought ‘53 Ford. Served as our truck and hunting vehicle for 8 years. No problems except for a broken window mechanism. He bought it back 4 years later!

“I had a 1998 GT and also had to replace the fuel pump at around the same time. Unknown miles, because I bought it used and the odometer didn’t work.”

Interesting. I thought that Ford hooked the fuel pump to the odometer to fail at 110k miles!

“If you want an electric Mustang-E, keep in mind that it is built in China.”

That is incorrect.

US built Mach E’s will be purchased by Americans. Ford has begun the process to make the Mach E in China for Chinese consumption.

When I was growing up (’79-80ish) my step father had in the garage a mint condition 1969 Mach 1 Mustang 351 with 600 miles on it. Wide wheels in the back. The engine had been balance and blue printed then painted black. With chrome headers and valve covers.

It as the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.

Today I have an eco-boost Mustang and I really like it. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It cruises at 100+ in a very smooth ride.

Pretty exciting to see a new Mach 1

“Pretty exciting to see a new Mach 1”

Car and Driver says 480 hp but that is same as Bullitt. Mach-1 has always been higher and some sources are saying 525 hp.

At least it has an interesting paint job but still not as cool as the 60s were. Cars are boring these days.

Yes but then he goes on to tell you that it’s actually carbon fiber reinforced plastic.

Yep, those old muscle cars got your heart pounding anytime you accelerated, hit the brakes or took a corner!

Nice!

When I was in the showroom buying my last Mustang, they had an original 1964 Mustang, I was like wow! Then right behind it was the gorgeous red and black 2014 GT-350 Cobra forsale. 800 hp. Track tested at 212 mph. I asked the salesmen what it cost and he laughed and said, "Your Mustang would make a good down payment." lol

Later he sent me the sales flyer... it was list for $103,000.00 ... oh well. :)
