Anderson Cooper compares Trump supporters to perpetrators of Rwandan and Bosnian genocide
Post Millennial ^ | Feb. 10, 2021 | Noah David Alter

Anderson Cooper took to CNN on Tuesday to compare Trump and his supporters to the perpetrators of the genocides in Rwanda and Bosnia.

"The idea of 'otherizing' people is something I think we've seen a lot of over the last four years," Cooper said. "It's so easy to otherize people, to make them other than, other than American, other than patriotic, other than human."

"We've seen it in Bosnia, we've seen it in Rwanda... where Hutus were telling radio listeners that Tutsi were cockroaches, you know, getting them ginned up for genocide, and you see it in these videos where people who claim they are patriots are in the face of a police officer calling him, you know, as we're seeing it right there," he continued, referencing a video from the Jan 6 Capitol Hill riot.

"Gouging out the eye of ones, squeezing one... suffocating one in a doorway," Cooper said.

There is no evidence that Trump supporters are planning or wishing to commit genocide against other Americans.

Democratic politicians and their supporters in the media have raised concern in the wake of the Capitol Hill riot last month arguing that Trump supporters are a danger to America as a whole. Many have called for using anti-terror legislation similar to what was employed in the aftermath of 9/11 to combat the brand of populism that Trump made popular.

One MCNBC anchor suggested on air last week that drone strikes be used against Trump-supporting American citizens who have been accused of terrorism, offering them no trial as guaranteed under the constitution. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer had suggested the expansion of the no-fly list while other Democratic politicians, along with some Republicans, have called for the creation of new anti-terror legislation. It is unclear if such proposals fits the definition of "otherizing" as used by Cooper.

Cooper's comments come amid the impeachment trial of Donald Trump in the Senate. Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives shortly before the end of his term for allegedly inciting insurrection at Capitol Hill.

While the Senate is currently Democrat-controlled, it is unlikely that Trump will be convicted in the legislative body as Democrats would require 17 Republican legislators to support conviction. Only six voted to proceed with the impeachment. The Senate requires a two third's majority to convict a President in an impeachment trial.

I’m familiar with the Rwanda genocide, but I guess I missed the genocide in Bosnia. The closed thing that I can come up with was the mass killing of men in Srebrenica. Certainly a Crime Against Humanity, and a War Crime deserving of the Death Penalty*, but not a genocide, or they would have also killed the women and children.

*Europe is beyond the need for dishing out the ultimate punishment, even for people who order the killing of thousands of innocent people.

What “genocide” are Trump supporters supposed to be guilty of? I see or hear of no mass killings or operation of detention camps staffed and administered by this amorphous “army” of Trump supporters, or endorsed in any way by Donald Trump.

Anderson Cooper flings about terms of which perhaps he does not have a clear understanding.

“Genocide” is the intentional action to destroy a people — usually defined as an ethnic, national, racial, or religious group — in whole or in part.

Please relate how you came to the conclusion that Trump supporters in any way carry out such a program, Mr. Cooper.

‘Mandalorian’ Star Carano Got Fired After Holocaust Tweet. Another ‘Mandalorian’ Star Used Holocaust But Still Has His Job.

Disney reportedly cut ties this week with conservative actress Gina Carano, one of the stars of Lucasfilm’s hit TV series “The Mandalorian,” on Wednesday. The alleged cause of the firing was a series of posts Carano made on social media that critics claimed were offensive.

As The Daily Wire reported, “The post that generated the most controversy was a screenshot of another person’s post that she then posted onto her own Instagram account. The post compared the current politically divisive culture in the U.S. to Nazi Germany.” The screenshot stated:

Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?

Lucasfilm, which is owned by Disney, announced in a statement, “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Social media noted that another actor starring in “The Mandalorian,” Pedro Pascal, had also made a reference to the Holocaust, but no action had been taken by Disney. On June 20, 2018, Pascal posted two images, one of a concentration camp in Germany in 1944 and another of immigrant children “in cages” that he suggested was taken in 2018, hashtagged “#ThisIsAmerica.” Tweet below followed by screenshot:

The crazier they get the better. Fewer and fewer normal people will believe them, even if they accidentally tell the truth.

They're not even trying to conceal their contempt at this point. How else can this ridiculous histrionic fool be explained? Comparing the January 6th mostly peaceful protest to the Rwandan genocide? It's patently absurd.

Here' my take: the coastal elites, and their fraudulently installed junta are so torn that they've become schizophrenic. On the one hand, they squee that the remnant of patriotic Americans are "literally Hitler", while on the other hand flaunting their debauched degeneracy showing not the slightest fear of mocking us.

The only advice I could give Anderson, is that it would be wise to fear the wrath of the patient man.

A more apt comparison is to Kent State where some people got out of hand and an unarmed woman was shot by an officer.

Getting pretty damned sick of the asinine e over the top rhetoric from these cancel cultutre vultures. They are trying to criminalize figures of speech.

President Trump didn’t say anything more incendiary than any great Leader would have and has said. His “fight like hell” comment was telling folks to fight POLITICALLY” AND the left know this full well, yet they are trying to make hi m into an inssurectiknist for trying to inspire his followers to fight politically at the polls, at peaceful protest and marches.

I pray God allows true justice to prevail. And the, eft lose big time come 2022 because of all this asinine cancel culture nonsense

You can be sure that every leftie complaining about “otherizing” is actively “otherizing” their political opponents at the same time.

Hmm...”otherizing”...tell me, who came up with “Deplorables” and “Bitter Clingers”? Which side of the house is calling for re-education camps? Cooper is doing some serious projecting here and has no idea of the precipice on whose brink he’s standing.

both occurred during Bill Clinton's rule, his state dept. wouldn't call the killing of 800,000 black men, women and children Tutsi tribe members a genocide but killing 8,000 white Bosnian Muslim men a genocide to take peoples mind off of Monica Lewinsky with an undeclared war.
