Another short slide - I had to put down my sweet Doberman, Zeus, this afternoon. He would have been 13 on February 20th. I’m devastated - my heart aches and I’m having trouble reading the thread through these tears. Back to your normal programming....
So sorry I know its hard have a good cry.
Sorry to hear about Zeus. I know that it hurts, and I’m sure that it was better for him to be put down at this time. Condolences and prayers.
Awe, virtual hugs to you.
Been there and getting close to have to do it again.
So sorry, Gypsy. DH and I went through the very same thing recently. 😥
So sorry for your loss. We’ve had 5 Dobermans. Only one lived as long as yours, 13 great years. We found that the only thing that helped was to adopt another dog from a Doberman Rescue, which we did 3 times. We used to always have a pair of dogs, now we only have one, a chocolate lab mix from a local rescue. Hang in there. Have been there many times, even lost 3 horses over the years. Very sad days.
I’m sorry for your loss.
Just to let you know your heartache is understood by so many. It is not easy. Our little dachshund MiMi died in August, the sweetest little girl and every day I miss her almost unbearably. What helps is knowing how lucky we were to have them but it goes the other way, they were blessed to have you. The bond will always be there.
My condolences on your loss....
Just remember:
To you they were a part of your life,
To them you were all of their life....
My condolences on your loss. We’re cat people, but know what it’s like. No matter which species become your friends, they are just that - and parting with them is like losing any other friend. Zeus will be in your heart always, wherever you go and whatever you do.
Zeus is making new friends with 2 of our family dogs that made the Jump in the last 2 weeks.
Dog heaven is filled with squeaky toys, hamburgers dropped off the grill, no leashes or fences, and billions of telephone poles.
We will never forget our good dogs, but we wouldn’t want them to suffer ONE MORE DAY. That’s our only thought to cling to.
I’m so very sorry to hear about your Zeus. Your post gave me a lump in my throat because one of my Yorkies is named Zeus and I just surprised him when I scooped him up for a tight hug.
I know how real and big the pain you’re feeling is and wish I could lend you my Zeus to ease it just a tiny bit. It’s the only bad quality our pets have really - they don’t live nearly long enough for us. I hope you can find some comfort in your great memories of such a wonderful companion.
My condolences and big hugs. We went through it with our two female Great Pyrenees. I still miss them two years later. Time will make it better. I won’t go into detail but it was a major loss.

Condolences. I understand heart hurts. It still hasn’t quite gone away with my family after 5 plus years.
