Whether you like it or not, no Pizza is baked in a CONTAINER.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That’s a good distinction.
Italians aren’t shoveling metal containers full of wet ingredients into their ovens. They’re putting in relatively thin disks of dough with toppings on top, and no container.
To me it’s a conservative thing to keep meaningful distinctions intact. Then the argument shifts to who has the responsibility to keep them intact—government or society. This is where American and European notions of conservatism may differ.
What Rules?
I’m SO not picky. Don’t care about semantics. PLEASE have whatever it is delivered to my home. Thank you.
Anyone who is not old enough to remember the 70’s or early 80’s has not idea what a good pizza really tastes like. Why? because no one seems to have made a good pizza since then.
The proper ingredients to make a good pizza seem to be too expensive to use, and in the proper quantities.
What you have today is a burrito shell with a thin splash of tomato soap. A smidgen of really cheap cheese. And a slight sprinkle of dried up tiny toppings(Which most people don’t even opt for). It does not taste much different then eating a slice of plain bread.
It is hard to get excited about today’s pizza. It seems that everyone has a sweet taste for Sh**
A great concept for a big selling pizza would be to call it “70’s Pizza” and make it accordingly.
“Then the argument shifts to who has the responsibility to keep them intact—government or society.”
Very good point. There are certain limited occasions where gov’t can play a useful role in such things as this. Case in point, Kentucky Bourbon where the exact specifications/ratios are dictated in order for this whisky to be designated as such. I disagree with regional designations but, I agree wholeheartedly to adhering to the exact specifications that make a Kentucky Bourbon a Kentucky Bourbon.
I’m not on much since the “tragedy” 9 days ago, but I knew right away this was you :)
And it did make me LOL
Good. :-)
Mmmmm nice!
I’ve had a bunch of pizzas in Italy.
That’s a big crust for a pie from Italy.
Looks great!
I’m 52 and it seems that through the decades the Italians have taken more from us than us from them regarding pizza.
Bigger is always better, I guess!! :)
Pizza war!!!
Is pizza hut insuring their locations and then arsoning them?
Because that is Detroit Style!
I remember their pizza was delicious. But that was around 30 years ago.
“Pan pizza
Pan pizza is a thin or thick pizza baked in a deep dish pan. The bottoms and sides of the crust become fried and crispy in the oil used to coat the pan. Chicago and Detroit-style pizza may be considered a form of pan pizza. Pan pizza generally refers to the thin to thick style popularized by Pizza Hut in the 1960s.[1][2]”
“Casserole
For the form of protest, see cacerolazo.
A casserole (French: diminutive of casse, from Provençal cassa ‘pan’[1]) is a variety of a large, deep pan or bowl, typically with a glass lid, used for oven cooking a variety of dishes, as well as referring to the category of foods cooked inside it. Though the two share the same name, the pan itself is also commonly known as a “casserole dish” or “casserole pan”, whereas the food inside is usually distinguished as the “casserole”. The same pan is often used both for cooking and serving.”
It’s Pizza. But feel free to make up your own definitions if it makes you feel better. Just don’t expect us to cosign your fantasy.
Dominos does
Ian Spampatti makes rectangular pan pizza (I can’t understand a word he’s saying):
Here’s another one. The title is “PIZZA IN TEGLIA AD ALTA IDRATAZIONE - MAI PIU’ PROBLEMI”
UPS
This article has me confused!
Who cares?
Why would anyone in their right mind characterize a pizza as "Detroit-style?"
What is the first mental association most people have with "Detroit?"
Urban decay. High crime rates. Drive-by shootings. Corrupt city officials. Massive unemployment. White flight. Desolated neighborhoods. A "nuked" tax-base.
Might as well name it "Nagasaki-style" pizza!
Regards,
In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.
Just Saying...
