Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose COVID-19 vaccine, which is being studied at the CTI Research Study Center in Norwood, is showing promise.
Early trials for the vaccine have proven to be effective with the initial two phases producing a strong immune response, according to CTI CEO Tim Schroeder.
“The single-dose gave you 90 percent efficacy in all age groups and all risk factors and the side effect profile generally very mild across all the individuals,” Schroeder said.

That’s a shame your friends got wacked by the virus. That’s life, mate.
No different than if I got wacked by the influenza virus being perfectly healthy and in the best recovery age/health group. Influenza kills 45-65k/yr. So what’s your point, mate? There are higher risk factors that can cause death after contracting COVID... comorbidity and preexisting conditions put you at higher risk when contracting COVID and can lead to a premature death.
Statistically most will recover at a rate of 99.988 percent. But there will always be exceptions and those who will die regardless of being in the lowest risk group with best health. THAT’S LIFE!
And there is no vaccine that is 100% effective at providing protection/immunity against a virus.
Lol! I have an agenda?? No, it’s idiots like you who believe the fake science and fear mongering.
And yes... My statistics are from CDC, along with the fear mongering statistics spread by the WHO and the inflated mortality/infection projections pushed by idiots like Fauci and other so-called experts that peddle their false projection models because THEY have an agenda.
So bugger off with your beliefs in fake science, cooked death rates and manipulated mortality projection modeling.
The WHO is pumping out BS. Believe what you want.
thanks for the explanation...if it turns out that this one is not killing people I might get it :-)
Thanks!
Yep, they realized that people have a better chance of living when they get the wild virus than getting the vaccine.
The Johnson & Johnson (AKA Jansen) does not use an mRNA approach.
It uses a well known, harmless adenovirus as the carrier, of an identifying spike protein from COVID-19. That is a traditional, conventional approach.
This is the same technical approach as the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine, and the Russian Sputnik V.
The big news in this article, is the 90% effectiveness rate. We have been waiting for them to publish that result.
That’s a great number, and the fact that they are reporting it publicly, means that the Phase 3 trial analysis is wrapped up, and they are moving to request Emergency Use Authorization. I believe that Dr. Fauci stated he expects it at the end of next week.
Hopefully, they can ramp up production. Recent reports indicated that they were off to a slower start then hoped - Perhaps just a few million doses in February, and then ramping up over March.
It is a one shot vaccine, and does not require challenging cold storage.
This apparenty used fetal tissues in its development
None of them have killed anyone. Don't let the fearmongering get to you. Go to the facts. 0 deaths have been causally linked to any COVID-19 vaccine in either the US or the UK. China on the other hand? Russia? Who knows. But definitely not the US or UK with the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. Both have shown an extremely small (about 1 out of 90,000 or 0.001% for Pfizer, much lower for Moderna) number of serious allergic reactions, all of which are easily treated with epinephrine. Everyone who's had a serious reaction to either has recovered.
The news stories being peddled as sky-is-falling death stories are all "so and so took the vaccine and just two weeks later they died!". 27 million people have gotten one of the COVID-19 vaccines in the US. If you gave 27 million people Tylenol and waited two weeks, some of them would die. Is Tylenol deadly? No. But over the course of a few weeks, some number of people out of 27 million are going to die, especially when many of those 27 million are elderly folks. Don't confuse fearmongering with facts.
Merck dropped their vaccine because it was so far behind everyone else that it never would have gotten to a pharmacy before everyone was already vaccinated. It was a business decision not to continue sinking money into a saturated market.
"Yep, they realized that people have a better chance of living when they get the wild virus than getting the vaccine."
I don't think Jesse Owens could have jumped to a conclusion that far from reality, and that guy got 4 Olympic gold medals. The opposite is actually true, by the way. There are zero deaths causally linked to any COVID-19 vaccine. COVID-19 has killed at least 443,000 in the US so far. About 27 million people in the US have received a dose of either the Pfizer vaccine or the Moderna vaccine in the US to date. COVID-19 has an Infection Fatality Rate (IFR) of 0.65%. If you gave 27 million people COVID-19, we would see about 175,000 deaths. No one has claimed that 175,000 people have died from the COVID-19 vaccines. Not even the most wild and crazy claims from people who hate all vaccines have tried to claim 175,000 people have died from the COVID-19 vaccines.
Bill Gates microchips in the vaccines? Mark of the beast and the end of the world because of the vaccines? Yeah sure, those claims have been made (no, seriously, they have). But 175,000 deaths from the vaccines? Yeah, that's too crazy.
And we still don't know how long it's good for.
I ain’t taking any of those mRNA vac’s.
getting the virus is safer - survivable.
“Produce CDC, WHO, or GAO data to support your claim you cant because you have an agenda not science. Bugger off with fake stats there not helpful.”
Have you noticed that the anti-vaccer’s seem to add a “9” to their stats every couple of months?
Only a 90 percent efficacy rate? Fail. The other two are billed as being over 95%
None of them have killed anyone.

Ready for the next batch of guinea pigs!
The track record is important with the RNA vaccines - some theories say a future exposure could cause serious autoimmune responses - I dislike scare tactics but the fact is we have no clue about possible long-term liabilities.
I’m hoping to be able to obtain a more conventional vaccine before I offer myself up to a vaccine.
“66% effective”....JNJ stock sliding in pre-market
Yep, they realized that people have a better chance of living when they get the wild virus than getting the vaccine.

There is nothing like the natural immune system to protect you. If government crooks would just let us use the numerous therapeutics that are now available, we could very easily deal with the relatively low fatality rate that accompanies this virus. It may be more contagious than some but the quick, readily accessible and early administration of proven therapeutics is the answer while letting the immune system develop its own safe, natural immunity. This is not rocket science but like so many things today we find ourselves living in an insane asylum run by lunatics.
“Adenoviruses are common viruses that usually cause cold-like symptoms, but because the one used in the vaccine was altered and cannot replicate, it can’t make you sick. “
I don’t like quoting Hollywood in serious matters, but the familiarity of that statement is a harbinger of the potential problems with vaccines developed with genetically modified viruses.
Other FReepers are grossly mistaken in comparing this vaccine to Polio, etc. IMHO, had Fauci et al cured AIDS with an adenovirus-type vaccine - or ANY other disease, for that matter - perhaps I would give more weight to this development. They have the burden to prove this biotechnology not only works, but is safe. Introducing it in the middle of a manufactured crisis to be administered to the entire population does NOT automatically grant a pass in my book.
More night table reading if you’re curious as to the science behind this new type of ‘vaccine’...

No, I am pretty sure you were confusing it with the Oxford Astro Zeneca back soon.
