Walmart v. Amazon. Steel cage match. Loser leaves town.

I think Walmart could easily win that match.

Walmart, as a store, is more profitable. Walmart has many more stores than Amazon has fulfillment centers. Walmart doesn't have to worry about the kind of infrastructure that Amazon needs in order to serve it's many thousands of merchants.

Robots vs. Joe Biden’s $15.00 per hour minimum wage. What could go wrong?

If we had a true free market - with no gov't picking winners and losers and none of the trickery in the tax code - both Walmart and Amazon would be getting their tails kicked by small businesses.

Now thanks to China Joe, more and more people are going to be herded into Walmart/Amazon because higher energy costs will decimate what's left of small businesses.

That really should’ve been their strategy from day 1 going against Amazon. A quick deal with the post office for deliveries FROM their stores and boom - instant delivery network. (Their website still sux tho).

Sears was STILL in the perfect position to do this but they botched the whole thing up.

We try to avoid both and usually can.

I was thinking this may be the way of the future. Stores become smaller as people order online and pick up at the store. Much like how Sears, Penny’s and other stores had pickup locations for catalog purchases.

I ordered 2 each, 5lb containers of honey roasted peanuts online from Walmart. After dark, I heard a knock on the door. It was a young lady dropping off the peanuts I had ordered earlier. I ask her if she came all the away out just to drop off my order, she said she had other deliveries, but yes, they would bring out whatever we ordered that was stocked at the store. Since, then, I’ve ordered many other items and they’ve delivered them that day or the next.

I have always gotten what I ordered from Walmart, on time, and as described. Once I ordered a musical Charlie Brown Christmas tree from Amazon. I arrived a week late, and the box contained a string of used Christmas lights. Seriously. And some of the horror stories from fufillment center employees are inhuman. I will not patronize a massive sweat shop. Jeff Bezos can go back to Hell where he came from.

I tried to order an item from Wal-Mart last October and when I went to check out a merchandising fee pop up that added about 20 bucks to the price.
I cancelled and ordered the same item from Amazon for slightly less and no merchandising fee.

The difference between Walmart and Amazon is: Amazon has it’s own fleet of delivery drivers.

Walmart uses Doordash.

Amazon drivers get paid a wage for doing what they do.

Doordash drivers get a base pay of $3.00 per order. It can go up based on distance, but the amount doesn’t change based on how MUCH you’re transporting, whether it’s 1 item or 200 items.

Just a little background.
