The store policy where I work is we do not release the firearm until we get an answer from the State Police, who run the system in VA, although it piggybacks off the NICS system so it crashes when the fed system does.

Get a grip! They are not siding with anti-gunners, they are just following the legal procedures.
I went to Cabela’s (Bass pro) yesterday with a friend and they wanted me to scan a QR code with my phone before I was even ALLOWED to the counter.
I didn’t comply. I don’t have a QR code reader on my phone. After some grousing they let me at the counter but I couldn’t touch any firearm because I didn’t comply with their demand to scan the QR code.
Amazed how many people complied and went out of their way to download apps and futz with them until the sales idiot allowed them to approach the counter and be sold firearms at a huge markup.
Would even let me touch the black powder.
Feds are overwhelmed with applications.
A friend had to wait 3 days and another time about 24 hours in the last year.
If they don’t respond in a week ask the store to resubmit the application.
The last three purchases I’ve made, I’ve been NICS delayed. Have no idea why—I have a clean record—never even been charged with a crime. As I understand it, after three ‘working days’ if NICS doesn’t come back negative, you get the gun.
I don’t know if they start the clock the day after your purchase in which three days would be up today.
Typical. Nothing sinister.
About five years ago, I was looking to buy some pants from Sportsman’s Warehouse.
I wanted to try some on in their store to see how they’d feel while carrying in my IWB holster.
Out of courtesy, I voiced my intention to do so to the manager. Explaining that I didn’t want anyone freaking out, and my gun would have never left the holster.
I was told that they don’t allow loaded guns in their stores.
I asked, “What about those of us who are licensed to carry loaded guns?”
He said, “No loaded guns allowed in their stores.”
I never went back.
I bought a Glock 19 two weeks ago in FL. I have a CCW permit and usually the process is instantaneous. I had to drive back home and an wait an hour before the go ahead cleared.
Actually makes sense, sorta! But needs to be investigated. With the exorbitant number of buyers, one could see a backlog. HOWEVER, my checks only take 20-30 seconds.
Can’t blame them after what happened with Dillon Roof.
So many people buying guns now, the system may be overwhelmed & there was an internet outage a couple days ago that might have slowed things down.
Number one reason I have a CCW license in a constitutional carry state is because I bypass NICS....I go home with that gun as soon as the register closes and I get a receipt.
If I lived around Flagstaff, I’d check with someone at that store for myself. If the answer were the same, I’d find a better FFL dealer. There are many who’ll transfer after 3 business days after open responses (no proceed or deny), unless your area is saturated with left-leaning managers. ...something I haven’t seen.
Just take/direct your trade too Ruff’s........if it’s still a gun shop.
