NEW YORK (AP) — For the first time since 1983, when Anheuser-Busch used all of its ad time to introduce a beer called Bud Light, the beer giant isn’t advertising its iconic Budweiser brand during the Super Bowl. Instead, it’s donating the money it would have spent on the ad to coronavirus vaccination awareness efforts.
Anheuser-Busch still has four minutes of advertising during the game for its other brands including Bud Light, Bud Light Seltzer Lemonade, Michelob Ultra and Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer. Those are some of its hottest sellers, particularly among younger viewers.
But the decision to not do an anthemic Budweiser ad — which over nearly four decades has made American icons of frogs chirping “Budweiser,” guys screaming “Whassup!”, and of course the Budweiser Clydesdales — showcases the caution with which some advertisers are approaching the first COVID-era Super Bowl.
“We have a pandemic that is casting a pall over just about everything,” said Paul Argenti, Dartmouth College professor of corporate communication. “It’s hard to feel the exuberance and excitement people normally would.”

Because obviously no one is aware there is a pandemic and vaccines are being distributed and worked on.
I don’t like Budweiser but if you don’t get back to normal aren’t you helping to continue the “casting a pall over just about everything,” depression we are in?
Ping.
Or maybe it’s because of the fact that this will probably be the lowest viewer audience ever for the Cupcake Bowl. The way that people have been tuning out the NFL for the past several seasons might have gotten someone’s attention.
Winning a little each day and a lot on some days!
Perhaps the advertisers do not want to pay confiscatory rates for what is expected to be a smaller than normal Super Bowl audience?
They are opting for the Virtue Signaling Olympics.

I tried to post the “Townhall article” that states this and more but it’s behind a paywall. There’s a lot MORE companies “boycotting” the Superbowl because they’re afraid of the cancel culture!
Hasta La Vista Budweiser. I like Pabst Blue Ribbon better anyways.
Yep. Its still a capitalist country (for now anyway). If the bean counters say it’s not profitable it only makes best business sense to back out. Also IIRC anhauser bush is owned by a Belgian company is it not?
OK so the article really isn’t the headline. They’re just not doing a new BIG campaign for the SB. Still got 4 minutes of ad time. Honestly the SB ads have been overcooked for years anyway. Trying so hard to be the CLEVER ad everybody talks about they hardly even advertise the product anymore.
More SJW ads for the dupes who watch.
Don’t start the “which beer is better” debate dude....we’ll be here all night. LOL!
Fine. At least it’s not for “social justice.”
Well the first SB had about 50m viewers.
So this year would have to be less than half of 2020 to be lowest ever.
Even with two small market teams I find it difficult to believe that viewers will drop 50 per cent in one year.
Virtue Signalling.
Ef em.
Would that I could guess,
Going Woke has shown the shareholders that there is zero money on the lefts side to buy their products (pun intended on the Zero)
Go woke and go broke, or cut your losses and hope that when soda drinking time comes again they will have the right back buying their products.
They are in for a surprise.
Screw em.
Drink bourbon.
Yes, ABinBev of Belgium.
