I have to get away from politics if even for a little while. What's happened has disgusted me to no end and my blood pressure can't take it.
To that end, let's post pics of the coolest looking cars of the 40's, any nation, and see what happens.

Thank you, ETL! That’s exactly what it looked like. Dynaflo and power windows. And I somehow survived riding in the front seat with only my mom or dad’s arm to save me from kissing the metal dash when the brakes were hit.
I’m getting old 1st and 3rd pic I only saw the car first. Did finally notice something else.

When we went on vacation when I was a kidlet, my Dad would put 2 coolers on the back seat floor. Then he had a cloth covered board cut out he laid on the seat and the cooler that would basically turned the back seat into a play pen.

I remember oldsters complaining about the lack of room in the back seat of cars in the 50s & 60s. While in college I rode home in a Dodge/DeSoto/Chrysler four door from the early 40s. You could not touch the front seat with your feet when sitting in the back seat.

I think I’ve never have been in a 40’s car but I remember cars being tanks.
Probably got ten miles a gallon but I remember gas at 31 cents/gal

If you watch many movies from the 30s and 40s you can get an idea. If you were driving alone, you’d drive up to where you were going and leave the car using the passenger’s door. People getting into the back seat would bend down and kind of walk to the back seat. Today a back seat is roomy if your knees aren’t hitting the front seat.
Yep. And thirty or so years later, something very much like it came back as the VW Thing.
Kinda surprised something like that hasn’t made a comeback! Beautiful, almost alien, car!
Could be a one-of-a-kind “concept” car some manufacturer put out.

This thread is not complete without a 40/41 Willys Gasser.
My dad always bought Packards. So did our next-door neighbors. I actually learned to drive in an old Packard Limousine that son of neighbors drove out to the high school track and let me drive around and around because I was too young to have a license and couldn’t drive on streets.
I saw one of those in our town a couple of years ago. Enormous, It was like driving a living room.
