What you most likely have are Fungus Gnats. They are pesky, though harmless. they thrive in the wet environment an Aerogarden provides. (I had one; gave it away.)

Info about them: https://gardentherapy.ca/fungus-gnats/

Here is what Aerogarden recommends you do:

Good luck! :)

You know, my husband suggested I contact Aerogarden. I told him “Aerogarden??? I’m going to ask FR!”. I knew someone on this garden thread (especially you Diana) would know!
Amazed and much appreciated!!!

KCT is similar in appearance to black/honey locust, but it’s not thorny. The wood has a beautiful tone when simply oiled and varnished, and is highly valued by furniture/cabinet makers.

Every time I laid the saw against it I imagined the book case that needs to be built in my grouch cave.

And I just did another thing that I wish I hadn’t done. I checked slab prices on the interwebs. That log was worth somewhere north of $3000 if it had been cut into 2” thick slabs.

Mental note: I need to plant some Kentucky Coffee trees.

What is a MUST in Your Garden?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Tomatoes. If we grow nothing else, we have to have tomatoes. I have had the best luck with “Celebrity” tomatoes.

Hey, hubby and I went to Chichen Itza too, 1980. Climbed the big one. Had to come down backwards and holding the chain. Also went to Tulum and Coba, which is pretty remote. Big pyramid there is only half uncovered. Very cool. Still have some nice blankets from there.

Cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans, and carrots are my must haves. Peas, cabbage. Love watching pumpkins grow too. Peas and cabbage draw the chompers in like mad, and cabbage will get me the white butterflies also = yuck.

Heinz Sauce tomatoes from Territorial seed company.

Terrific flavor and the fruit is always in excellent condition.

Oh, No! I left a FORTUNE behind at my other farm that had 20 year old Black Walnut trees lining the driveway.

Evil trees when it comes to gardening, but a nice investment!

I am trying to talk Beau into finding an income stream on our farm involving all the access we have to wood. He’s handy with a chainsaw, and I can swing a splitting maul...sort of, LOL!

We grew and sold ‘Celebrity’ at the Farmer’s Market and to local restaurants. You cannot beat that tomato when it comes to tomatoes that will NOT split and always look perfect.

They taste good too, of course! :)

Still a newbie and very small gardens until better and can do more time, money, and work wise.

But Tomatoes are my MUST have plants. Tomatoes drives my garden plans. I did well with jalapenos and Tomatoes last year. Unsure of type. Hope to be expanding more this year. Lord willing.

All this tomato talk reminds me of a tomato we grew years ago and loved called the basket v. I just got done looking around the internet, a few places have seeds, places I have not heard of. We really prefer to buy plants. Anyone here happen to know of a good source? They were delicious and good for canning.

“What Are Your Favorite Seed Varieties?”

Tomatoes: Bella Rosa, Celebrity, Sun Sugar (cherry), Juliet (for drying/snacking), La Roma III paste tomato. ANYTHING in the ‘Goliath’ series and ANYTHING in the ‘Chef’s Choice’ series.

Red Peppers: Alliance, Baron, Margaret’s and Carmen. I always grow reds, because I can use them at the green stage if I need to. This year am adding an orange Habanero-type with no heat. Will make good ‘Cowboy Candy.’

Beans: Pole type: Saychelles, which I just discovered last year, and Blue Lake of course! Bush beans: purple Velour and yellow Golden Rod. The Pole beans are green, so I like to add some color with bush beans.

Cucumbers: Sweeter Yet and Summer Dance. Diva on years I’m going to make Dill Pickles.

Kale: Green: Prizm (Jung’s) & Purple: Scarlet (Baker Creek)

Sweet Corn: Ambrosia and Kandy Korn and Puffy Pop Popcorn.

Flowers: Calendula, Cosmos, Nasturtium, Marigolds and Zinnia. I like any variety that’s ORANGE. :) And as soon as Walmart has packs of Dahlia, I’ll start them ahead in pots. I had quite a few last year, but didn’t save the tubers because they’re cheap and productive. There is a LOT of flower bang for your buck with Dahlia, for sure!

Winter Squash: Honey Nut (small Butternut-type) and this year, Lakota after one of our Grant Nite Champion dogs who probably won’t be with us much longer. (Ten is OLD for a working hound.) I know I said NO winter squash until I get my root cellar, but Beau is making promises...and he grows it in the lower garden, anyway. ;)
