What does the US Constitution say about removing a president who is out of office?

And who presides over this farce? The Constitution says the Chief Justice will preside over a trial of the "president". BUT TRUMP is now a private citizen. Joe Biden is president.

A conviction would also blow up in their faces. It looks petty and mean-spirited. They got rid of the guy already. It won’t play well across America.

It is also a warning to anyone else who runs as an outsider, unbeholden to the normal puppet masters.

I never thought the branches are co-equal. Congress controls the POTUS, if they want to. We just saw four years of Mitch controlling who Trump chose for his Admin. Congress can impeach Justices, can change the number of Justices, or their jurisdiction. Legislative is the lead branch, then Executive, then Judiciary. Trump just found out the POTUS is not the most powerful man in the World.

IT is a bill of attainder.

Unconstitutional.

Besides that, the impeachment in the house was unconstitutional. He was denied due process.

Thatโ€™s why itโ€™s important to set an example with efforts to censure, remove and replace any House republican traitors like Cheney who support this illegal harassment against a private citizen. Republican senators need to pay a heavy price (their careers) for supporting this leftist corruption.

good point!

Chief Justice Roberts doesn’t preside. The President of the Senate (Kamala Harris) presides.

Should be fun!

Any Republican Senator who does not go on record as stating this is an Unconstitutional sham, and boycott the proceedings, is a Deep State rat. The President should take the same position and refuse to appear at this Soviet show trial.

Roberts will use pretzel logic to say its a tax, thereby making it constitutional.

No, Roberts logic will be since former presidents are still honorarily called president and the constitution says “the president” that it’s constitutional to convict him.

Sorry about that. Murkowski and Collins are women...

Are you sure about that?

Agreed, co-equal in theory only. With the power of the purse, the authority to impeach and remove presidents and cabinet officers, etc, it’s small wonder the legislative branch is Article 1 in the Constitution.

Agreed, but we’re dealing with a rogue congress, drunk on power, hellbent on exacting revenge on an outsider - to make him an example of what happens to anyone who might dare challenge the corrupt system of self-enrichment the insider club have built for themselves.

You’re making the mistake of thinking that the Constitution still matters.

If the Constitution were operational, none of us would be having any discussion at all

Todayโ€™s dems will follow suit

More "spy vs. spy", "red vs. blue" stuff, huh?

This process isn't caused by, nor is it about, "dems".

They need 17 Republican Senators to pull this off, 18 if Harris, presiding, doesn't vote.

Do you think this would be happening if they didn't have the votes?
