A big chunk of the Guardsmen pulled into this mess are college students who just started their spring semesters. If they got called up to miss the first two or three weeks of their semester just to sit in parking garages or standing outside in the wind with unloaded rifles for twelve hours without a purpose, showering with cold baby wipes, they’re going to remember it for a long time.

"When Caesar is a pr!ck but you sign up for his legions anyway, I have no sympathy for you." Any of these guardsmen on their first enlistment came on board during Trump's presidency, and like most of us, probably assumed he would be CinC for at least 4 more years. That may not be the sole, or only reason they signed up, but they likely did so under that presumption.
