An Incredibly Short Story
My imagination | 1/18/2021 | By Laz A. Mataz

"It was ever thus."

That statement took Suudva 17,200 years to utter.

Moglu pondered Suudva's response for 205,300 years. Then he spoke: "What about this one?"

That question took 23,400 years to utter.

The Qul race was extraordinarily long-lived, and glacially slow. They were slow, but that was their pace. They had existed for many iterations of the universe's Big Bang, expansion, contraction, then the Big Collapse. The technology they had exceeded anything any other race could expect to ever achieve.

Moglu gestured, an act that took 40,300 years, then said: "Oh, this one? A very quick flash in the pan. They rose, became sentient, then developed an artificial intelligence that quickly killed them. As with all artificial intelligence, it became unbalanced and pursued goals that ended up creating it's own demise. It all occurred in the blink of an eye."

More than one million years passed.

Suudva asked: "What did they call themselves?"

"Humans. I think they called their planet 'Earth'."

It’s a great t-shirt to wear: good one to wear as you’re taking a tour of Harvard.

Sowell, the acolyte of Milton Friedman, has done good work over the decades.

His own short-sightedness — and it is shared by many conservatives — is his belief in unfettered, laissez-faire economics.

As a general rule, free markets work because there’s natural competition — and may the best products win.

But the globalists want all power for themselves. Monopolies abuse their power. Illegal immigration and unbalanced trade destroy jobs. They rob by destroying the American dream, crushing the middle class, and causing the unrest of the inner cities.

President Trump recognized all this and awakened the working class to the wolves in sheep’s clothing. Now we must continue the movement he began.

I woke up this morning wanting to know more about the sentient roses who built the AI.
