On writing talents...’1984’ is mostly crap once you wrap up the first 70-odd percent of the book. The last couple of chapters in the book....resembling some Brit romance story gone sour, was just wasted story-telling.

My wife and I wear this mask. Incredibly, most people ask what the mask means. They never have heard of the novel. When I pointed out the Reagan quote to a young moron, he didn't know who Reagan was. We are doomed.

But good catch. I never saw that before. Perhaps it is a Britishism. In the US, we often name buildings for their streets like this:
"The 90 West Street Building is an extraordinary building - for its architecture, and for surviving 9/11. But to begin at the beginning: The West Street Building was built as an office building for shipping and rail companies..."Maybe Orwell was shortening the name of a building (the "West Street Building") to just "street building."
Maybe the typesetter made a typo.
Yes we are doomed. When I was in high school back in the sixties, 1984 and Animal Farm were required reading.
Her novel written in the 50s, is spot on about the state of our country's affair right now.
She lived under a communist regime. She knew what was coming to the US if we ever let our Republic slip between our fingers.
I’d make a good proof reader. A lot of news websites sure could use one too, even the big ones.
