I believe its related to the 14 amendment (I could be wrong on the number) which provided citizenship to freed slaves. It was written broadly and ended up including anyone born here with a few exceptions.
NOTE: This issue has never been reviewed by the supreme court. Nobody wants to open that can of worms.

I don’t claim to be a Constitutional scholar or expert, but I’m likely more familiar than most about the Constitution because I taught it as part of a state requirement for more than 25 years. My poor 7th graders had to go through every line of the Constitution and Amendments and what they mean. I do have a pretty good idea of what’s in there.

It HAS TO BE (BOTH, as in 2, as in parentS, PLURAL). Also Obama NEVER produced a “valid” birth certificate.
Not to mention that according to the law at the time, Barack’s mother DID NOT MEET the age and residency requirements to make Obama a US citizen. Even if one parent was enough, WHICH IT ISN’T.
