Researchers at Columbia Engineering report today that they have developed the first nanomaterial that demonstrates "photon avalanching," a process that is unrivaled in its combination of extreme nonlinear optical behavior and efficiency. The realization of photon avalanching in nanoparticle form opens up a host of sought-after applications, from real-time super-resolution optical microscopy, precise temperature and environmental sensing, and infrared light detection, to optical analog-to-digital conversion and quantum sensing.
Avalanching processes—where a cascade of events is triggered by series of small perturbations—are found in a wide range of phenomena beyond snow slides, including the popping of champagne bubbles, nuclear explosions, lasing, neuronal networking, and even financial crises. Avalanching is an extreme example of a nonlinear process, in which a change in input or excitation leads to a disproportionate—often disproportionately large—change in output signal. Large volumes of material are usually required for the efficient generation of nonlinear optical signals, and this had also been the case for photon avalanching, until now.
In optics, photon avalanching is the process where the absorption within a crystal of a single photon results in the emission of many. Researchers have used photon avalanching in specialized lasers, where the photon absorption sets off a chain reaction of optical events that ultimately lead to efficient lasing.
Of particular note to researchers is that the absorption of just a single photon leads not only to a large number of emitted photons but also to a surprising property: the emitted photons are "upconverted," each one higher in energy (bluer in color) than the single absorbed photon. Scientists can use wavelengths in the infrared region of the optical spectrum to create large amounts of higher-energy photons that are much better at inducing desired chemical changes—such as killing cancer cells—at targeted locations deep within tissue, wherever the avalanching nanoparticles are positioned.

I was just thinking this today, “If only there was some type of avalanching photons or something that could be allied to these processes”
And then this article- Coincidence? I think not!
(Seriously though- cool article once again! There’s some pretty smart cookies out there for sure- Sounds like it might even have applications for cancer? That would be cool- We need some big breakthroughs in that line-
uggh- autocorrect- Applied, not allied!
White guy science, so it is racist!
Thanks for posting.

Wouldn’t this mean that the associated electrons have an intrinsic energy that is released as indicated by the differing colors?
When I meditate, my consciousness tunes through various frequencies. I’ve noticed that as I progress through the various levels, the Light gets brighter.
This shows me that Niel’s Bohr’s discovery that when an electron goes from an outer orbital to an inner orbital, it gives off a photon or light applies, and each layer of progressively higher level of consciousness has more energy.
This is how the mystics of all religions are able to perform unusual things, not done by others.
When the consciousness flows from a higher level to a lower level, I see it as a flowing liquid light, the color which is associated with the respective layers originating and resulting.
Thus I see the consciousness referred to as the “Holy Spirit” as a golden liquid flowing light. Consciousness from higher levels is seen as a more blue, much brighter flowing light.
This is the glow that artists perceive around the saints.
The limitations in our perception of reality is because we live in a “flat consciousness society. “ Scientists do not consider the interaction between the frequency of consciousness of the observer and the observed object.
As consciousness frequency of the observer approaches the speed of light, time collapses.
Bottom line, per my own experience and observations, consciousness changing frequencies or layers has similar characteristics with the research presented in the article.
Probably triggered by nanoskiers going out of bounds.

Didn’t we see you at the Capitol wearing a set of buffalo horns?
No pics available? Would probably be pretty small.
Just one more data point to support our President’s comments about healing with light.
