Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) sent a note to Republican colleagues Wednesday afternoon informing them that he remains undecided on whether to convict President Trump on an article of impeachment expected to be passed by the House.

“While the press has been full of speculation, I have not made a final decision on how I will vote and I intend to listen to the legal arguments when they are presented to the Senate,” McConnell wrote in a note to colleagues, an excerpt of which was made public by his office.

McConnell made his statement after The New York Time reported Tuesday that the GOP leader has told associates he believes Trump has committed impeachable offenses.

The Times also reported that McConnell has told associates that he is pleased Democrats are moving to impeach Trump because it will make it easier for the Republican Party to break with the president once he leaves office.

Republican sources say McConnell will not again serve as one of Trump’s principal defenders as he did a year ago when he led staunch defense against two articles of impeachment passed by the House in December 2019.

China Mitch is punting to Schumer. Schumer will have POTUS on the rack for a months long Senate trial.

Probably pointless as Trump will be out of office before he can vote on it.

BS because the Senate will not even take it up as Biden will have taken his oath of office before the possibility.

There will be no trial....period.

I suspect their argument will be that he was impeached while president, and the timing of the trial is irrelevant. Assuming that logic holds Trump is toast. The senate Republicans will not stand behind him.

I personally don’t believe President Trump will run again.
He will be spending all his time fending off phony charges.

“Here are the Republicans who voted to impeach Mr. Trump:
Liz Cheney of Wyoming , Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio, Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington, John Katko of New York , Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, et al

They are destroying the Rino wing of the party.

But I can help.

“McConnell says he’s undecided on whether to vote to convict Trump”

I suppose if Trump decided to have another rally in dc that might push him over the edge.

So silly of the GOP. Trump doesn’t matter. Why he won in the first place matters.

He discovered a swatch of disenfranchised and forgotten voters. Some of those were democrats, some minorities, some Jews, some who haven’t voted for years. He found the issues they cared about and by virtue of him wearing the GOP pin, they came with him.

So now beotch McConnell thinks that by getting rid of Trump that movement he discovered who magically disappear and the voters what, stay? Magically decide that McConnell is the guy that inspires them?!?!

Anyone who has made up their mind before a trial is disqualified from voting.

If its a trial, aren’t you supposed to hear the evidence before announcing your opinion? The turtle isn’t stupid, and he also will not set the agenda.

Well, he was just reelected, so he's good for the next two years. I am sure all the bad words and anger will roll off his back like water of a duck's.

I would venture a guess that the money or perks he got and will get from betraying his campaign contributors and constituents is far in excess of the campaign contributions his supporters gave him.
