With the addition of a playoff team in each conference and two more Wild Card games, the NFL called it "Super Wild Card Weekend," but when it came to television ratings it wasn't super at all.
According to Sportico, ratings for the games were down 25% on Saturday compared to last year and 20% on Sunday.
Ratings overall were down 7% in the regular season, so that is a big jump to upwards of 20 for the first weekend of the postseason.
So, what are some possible reasons? It may have just been too much football.
There were roughly 10 straight hours of action both days, which is just a lot even for the most invested of fans. The games also were not all that spectacular. Half were one-score games, but the outcome in all but the Bills/Colts were never really in doubt.
Another reason could be the events in Washington last week and people's attention over the weekend still being directed towards that.
While on the surface six playoff games in two days seemed like a good idea for the league, at least for this year the results in terms of fan interest it was not.

Exactly! Football is for low-IQ Leftists and America-haters.

And yet, the elephants in the room — support of burnlootmurder and disrespecting our flag and our nation are not listed.
The woke blind spot.
I left football 2 years ago and it really was a blessing. I spend more time on playing with my kids, hobbies, and maintenance things. I didn’t realize how much time was wasted on the sport.
>>If you call yourself a conservative and are still watching the NFL...well, you’re not conservative.<<
+1 million! Anyone who watches that America-hating, burnlootmurder-supporting bag of rich, pampered, spoiled overpaid steroid-mongers can just go join the damn democrat party.
Why, oh why, does ANYONE still support the ultra-WOKE NFL, and it’s socialist sponsors ?
this post was for you:

What could it possibly be????
Other than Buffalo I don't know which teams are even in the playoffs. And I only know about Buffalo because that ugly mutt Andrew Cuomo made a big deal about attending the team's first playoff game in 400 years in person.

The money that I spent going to Pirate games in 2019 and before were spent on buying Strat-O-Matic cards to play baseball as it was when I was a pup and the years before.
Did you know Ron Santo once delivered pizza from his own shop in Chicago (when he was short of help) after he retired? He also had a Hall of Fame career with diabetes, which he didn't reveal until the closing months of his final season. Pretty cool and a start contrast to the pampered princely arses who play professional sports today.
If that’s your standard of measurement then you should have been rooting for Pittsburgh’s team plane to crash.
In my case I was a big spectator sports fan for many a decade but about 15 years ago it started to wane. Lots of reasons but from my perspective I think I had reached a saturation point and endless games and events slowly began to no longer have meaning for me. At this stage I still occasionally check scores but that is about it. I might watch a bit of the Super Bowl if the matchup seems interesting but otherwise I’ll pass. I missed last year. I heard KC won.
I quit watching sports before not watching sports was cool...way before.
Hopefully College will realize their folly and roll back the last 4 or 5years of changes (except overtime)
yep..and cable TV and Fox Noos.
I still respect the 65 of 67 counties in Pennsylvania who ran honest elections, including my home county where I am a precinct judge. There is still much good about this country and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Wow. They’re working on playoffs already?
I had no idea.
Time flies.
The b&^%$es always have excuses—but never ever ever tell the truth.
Never.
Boycott!
Oh, the NFL is in playoff season. I hadn’t noticed. Would not have watched if I did notice.
I watch golf, missed Justin Thomas calling himself a faggot for a missed putt, that would have been entertaining.
