So is this how Capt. Von Trapp felt when he knew his beautiful Austria was going to disappear forever?

Sorry all for the vanity, just feeling very melancholy tonight watching everything that was good about our country be destroyed at such a quickened pace....

Recent immigrants taken as a whole VOTE for SOCIALISM.
1st generation Americans of immigrant parents vote for socialism too.

My wife is from the Ukraine. She is an exception. She wants to curtail immigration, legal and illegal.

You are just part of the cheap labor express as personified by the GOPe. You are part of the ongoing subversion of the United States.

"the South Vietnamese-Americans that I talked to at the January 6th rally"

What generation were they? My overall impression is that the original boat people who arrived on our shores starting in 1975 were just about the most pro-GOP / anti-DEM demographic around. They knew it was the ultra-leftist Dem Congressional Class of '74 who betrayed them, easily overriding Jerry Ford's feeble protests, and they never forgave them.

But their kids all went to college, and even though a very high percentage got STEM-related degrees, they still had to suffer through the same old propagandizing wringer that other softer degrees were put thru, and a high percentage of the 2nd generation ended up "woke".

Some were about my age and I was 20 years old when South Vietnam fell. Many were younger and definitely born here.

A couple of decades back there was that famous case of the Arizona high school that had many immigrant children and the tradition of flying flags representing the heritage of all its students. The South Vietnamese-American students objected to using the current flag of Vietnam. They wanted the Republic of Vietnam flag flown. It is yellow with three red stripes.

There must have been at least 20 full-sized RVN flags at the January 6th rally.

Immigrants that come from hostile or non-assimiliting cultures are bad for America. Legal, illegal. Does not matter.

Pieces of paper like visas and green cards are meaningless compared with cuture, norms and values.

For example: Islamic migration. Which is largely legal to the USA. But is it good for us? Of course not. No country has ever been improved by the growth of Islam within its borders.

Beyond Islam, the wholesale importation of other third world cultures has helped flip states such as CA, CO, AZ, NV, VA, etc from red or purple to blue or deep blue. Permanently. The Senate and the Electoral College are probably lost forever to anything resembling conservatism.

Shout LEGALLY and AGAINST SOCIALISM all you want. The results don't lie.

Nonsense.

America is a nation of immigrants. The Vietnamese-Americans mentioned earlier in this thread as just as American as George Washington, Babe Ruth, Donald Trump, Dinesh D’Souza, Mark Levin, or Candace Owens.

I’m in favor of LEGAL immigration. I am against ILLEGAL immigration.

This did not have to happen. Yes the Democrats played dirty and that’s to be expected. But Trump through his sheer fighting ability gave Republicans a number of chances to win. Every step of the way they refused. Even the Supreme Court refused to do their job. How can you blame Democrats ? The Republicans took what was ours and handed it to them.

All immigrants assimilate. That’s the LEGAL part.

The Amish have been here for centuries and have completely alien “culture” to most other Americans, but they are AMERICANS.

Who’s to say WHAT American “culture” even is anyway?

Just because immigrants like Chinese-Americans form “ethnic” enclaves in every city and call it “Chinatown” doesn’t mean they’re not as American as you.

Heck, they’re even MORE American, because they went through the enormous effort to come here. You were simply born here. So who’s the REAL American? Somebody that WORKED for it, or somebody that had it handed to them simply by being born?

There’s a lot of un-Conservative opinion on this thread, even approaching racism.

I am not talking about people like Cruz and Hawley but those who actually had the power to do something, such as Brian Kemp

Take your your rank ignorance, hatred of the USA and childish fantasies to smoking hole known as Little Mogadishu in Minneapolis and let us from there how “All immigrants assimilate”.

BTW: Putting your banalities in all caps, doesn’t make them or you any less stupid.

I am in favor of LEGAL immigration, not ILLEGAL immigration.

As long as someone comes here LEGALLY, they are AMERICANS.

Just like you.

"wholesale importation of other third world cultures has helped flip states such as CA, CO, AZ, NV, VA,..."

You are of course entitled to your opinion. But IMHO, I'm only open to believe that 2 of those 5 flipped due to immigration from outside the US, namely CA and VA.

From 52 years of living in CO, and being intensely interested in politics the entire time, I would say that we flipped mostly due to "wholesale importation of an alien culture known as West Coast Liberalism" from primarily California refugees who imported their Blue voting patterns with them (and in the past decade our "Blues" problem has been compounded by dopeheads migrating here from every state where recreational dope wasn't yet legal). Also, due to their being much closer to CA than we are, I suspect NV & AZ flipped primarily because of Calif immigrants, and secondarily due to immigrants from Central America and Mexico.

I could of course be wrong about AZ and NV, but please don't tell me I hallucinated all those conversations I've had since the late 70s with ex-Californians who ignored our "Don't Californicate Colorado" bumper stickers.

Now I know why Blues music has always been associated with depressing themes.

Issue a million visas to the residents of Karachi Pakistan and its all “Legal”. Still poison to bring into any western Country but “legal”

Your child-like belief in the magic of slivers of paper is pathetic.

I recall some Democrat types bragging about how they just need average Hispanic turnout in Las Vegas to carry the state. Don’t have a specific anecdote for the recently deceased former red state of AZ, but I’m sure the urban population there has become much more Hispanic in recent years.

Nationwide, someone looked at the 2012 Election and noted that had Romney and Obama won their same shares of the country’s different racial and ethnic groups, but in 1980 USA, Romney would have won in a landslide. That’s how much the immigration-driven demographic changes since ‘80 have affected the balance of political power.
