I made the mistake of watching the movie "Knive Out" a few months ago.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8946378/
The premise is a rich family fighting over their inheritance, while the patriarch (Christopher Plummer) left everything to the illegal immigrant maid and committed suicide to do it.
It was thinly-disguised allegory saying that Americans deserve to be displaced by more worthy people.
It really angered me and I have been wanting to talk about it for a while.
Did anybody else see it?
Did they have the same reaction as I?
Try “The Hunted” if you are looking for less of an allegory ....
Sounds loosely based on the novel “The Testament”, by John Grisham. Only in that book he gives it all to his illegitimate daughter that nobody knew about. She’s a mssionary in the Amazon that wants no material wealth and he’s given her 11 billion dollars. It’s actually a really good book.
I haven’t seen it, but - based on your synopsis - the meaning could be that the US would be committing suicide if we have too much beneficence towards illegal aliens. But somehow I doubt that was the intended meaning.
Daniel Craig with the worst accent in the history in cinema!
Lousy movie. Very predictable. A “star fest”.
That movie was created by the fag Riann Johnson. Johnson, with the support of other creeps like Kathleen Kennedy and Jar Jar Abrams, intentionally destroyed the Star Wars franchise.
No one should watch that crap.
Directed by Rian Johnson, who is also responsible for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. My goodness, he is awful. Looper is supposed to be good, but I’m not willing to risk it on the off chance he didn’t produce another pile of crap.
We thought it was entertainment. Laughed and Laughed. and have watched it again. Sometimes disconnecting is a good thing.
No disrespect meant.
My wife and I saw it. I was disappointed. Some of the reviews talked it up to being like Clue (which I really liked) but it felt more like a mystery on rails, with the audience just along for the ride and not engaging with it.
I like Daniel Craig, but I felt his accent in the movie reminded me too much of the southern Kevin Spacey accident. Couldn’t quite get past that as it just irritated me throughout the movie. Like he was laying it on too thick.
The illegal immigrant part annoyed me a little. I think it was unnecessary to frame the character as having a hard time. I think it would have been more effective to have her have a blue collar family, maybe with a parent who has passed, who is facing mounting bills/eviction but who has been working hard and playing by the rules. Especially if the rich family was regularly putting down the working class.
It could have been funnier too... seemed that every character was unlikable, unlike Clue.
I saw it several months ago and have been forgetting about it ever since. Unfortunately, I didn’t read anything into it at all, and I’m usually looking for it, but this one felt flat. Too bad, I would have liked to discuss it. I’ll read the comments to see what others think.
I thought it was an hysterically funny movie. Did not pick up on a sinister agenda at all.
I’ll have to check it out.
I saw the movie and hated it. I believe that you are right in your belief that the great old families of Europe and America, the creeps that attend meetings and get together at Davos, Bilderberg, and Bohemian Grove have decided to end the Age of Enlightenment of Western civilization. They do not plan on ending themselves or their privileges, just us. I do not think they even know what they want to create. They want to destroy what made America great and rule whatever shit heap is left. We need to fight them and break them.

the knives out plot was a little bit twistier than that...
Certainly one of the worst, but there is no topping Nicholas Cage's "Alabama" accent in Con Air
"Mah humminburd."

Huh? I never had this.
Any trick to get it?
Word of warning...
When people tell you who they are and what they are going to do...
Believe them
