A long-running blog about Chicago policing is no longer visible to the public, and many people want to know what’s going on. We know this is true because our inboxes started filling with questions about Second City Cop’s status when their site became restricted Sunday.
So, what did happen? Did we mention that we have absolutely no idea? The possibilities range from innocuous to whatever the opposite of innocuous is.
Most basically, somebody might have screwed up, clicked the wrong settings option, and sent their whole site private.
If that’s not it, we turn to the assumption that the site operators intentionally made their content “invite only.”

Were they telling the truth? Can’t have that.
Who was their web hosting provider?
“Were they telling the truth? Can’t have that.”

That they did. And, as I recall, they let it all hang out on Chicago police and political goings-on.
Chicongo is no sanctuary for the truth or for those who tell it.
RUH-ROH RAGGY!............................
Groot threatened to shut them down so they went private.
My go to Chicago crime page is https://heyjackass.com/
That’s a shame. There was some very interesting perspectives and revelations at that site...
Told the truth about the Chicago Teachers Union, too...
Mine as well. The over/under this year is 800. Barely missed it this year.
They told the truth, period and Lightfoot along with CPD brass hated it.
All the info you need in one tidy page.
On twitter someone wrote that second city cop was shut down by google. It was the best site to see what’s really happening in Chitown. And that there’s been almost 1400 carjackings in 2020 is scary. So it’s getting criminal to talk about crime and those who perpetrate it? I hope a new site is up soon - or an alternate platform. Please keep us updated on this.
Maybe some undiscovered murders will come to light in the next few days.
Blogger (the platform) is owned by Google.
That site is informative and pretty funny. The “shot in the assometer” and “shot in the junk” graphs are particularly hilarious.
“Hey Jackass” is great for the day-to-day metrics for the shooting gallery on Lake Michigan, but “Second City Cop” was the place to go for the inner workings of the Machine (and the clown car of political hacks now in charge), and their consequences on the deterioration of a once-great city. In addition, the comments, both from LEO’s and ordinary citizens often added immeasurably to the info provided.
Well, this was certainly a long time coming. Fifteen years, over 22,000 posts, almost two million comments and God knows how many attempts to silence us. But it might finally be over…at least this version of it.
Over the weekend, we received information from a contact at Google that internal chat/e-mails led them to believe that certain precautions we had taken over the years had been breached by Google. We had gotten similar warnings from others in the past, and we dealt with or ignored them as the situation warranted. But this one was different.
