Can anyone access Second City Cop? I had the site bookmarked, and now when I try to access it Google asks me to sign in with my account, which has never happened before.
I know they had posted some articles over the weekend critical of the official media take on the Capitol Hill incident, and I'm afraid they might have been taken down or had access restricted because of it.
It says this:
This blog is open to invited readers only
http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/
It doesn’t look like you have been invited to read this blog. If you think this is a mistake, you might want to contact the blog author and request an invitation.
I got the same message this morning.
Can’t find a way to get to the author to ask any questions.
Yep...same here. I’ve been checking in there for years and now I’m not invited.
I got that message when I tried to reach the site on my phone. They may have closed themselves san to outside traffic. Never happened before.
you might want to contact the blog author..
How?
I’m just spitballing here but have you tried to follow the notification & sign in with your account information?
I’d prefer not to.
The folks running the blog warned a few days ago that their days might be numbered.
Does what we’re seeing mean they’ve taken it private?
didn’t work.
Same message.
Yep, I got the same thing.
Dang.
I think it more likely that their blog software provider or web host restricted or closed them off.
And the Fascists March On.
Dark days ahead.
As a darkly humorous aside, heyjackass.com, which SSC often cites, keeps a weekly tally of shootings in Chicago (so many killed and so many wounded).
The latest entry for this weekend reads,
“5 deplatformed and 27 wounded”.
Everyone is clamping down on allowing public viewable content. Everyone is moving to registered logged in member access only. Those who do not are going to be deplatformed. The FR might want to consider this also. There are huge legal differences between a site that has open public access to view or members only access to view. When it is open for public viewing it is pretty hard to claim it as a “private” venture or organization.
Now that free speech is dead.
Yep, everyone is going private...
Wish we could go back to the good old days of newsreaders and the X-No-Archive: Yes tag.
Everything we’ve ever typed here wouldn’t be in Googles bowels, where anyone can dig it up.
Beats me.
I never heard of them and simply clicked the link to read what was there and then copied it.
Heyjackass.com is great for an additional reason now that SCC has apparently gone private: Scroll down Heyjackass.com to the section entitled “Chicago Reads”.
Lots of great links there.
For the moment, anyway.
nope could be part of the censorship
