They have divided fashionistas and feminists for generations, but scientists now claim to have proof that high heels are sexy.

Researchers recruited 52 female university students aged 18 to 24 and shot videos of them walking in flat shoes and in their own high heels, varying in height from 8cm to 10cm.

Editing software was used to erase their feet so that only the women’s body movements could be assessed – and all had been instructed to wear similar dark, tight-fitting T-shirts, with jeans or leggings and have their hair tied back to ensure uniformity.

I mean, I have been and currently am involved in a number of R&D efforts but nothing like this. Guess I'm in the wrong field.

You get the same effect if she’s just prancing around on her tippy toes. Ballet and pole dancers do it, but I prefer the latter in favor of big beautiful natural knockers, boobs, hooters, water wings, cupcakes, etc...Ballet dancers tend not to be so well-endowed. However, I do appreciate their athletic abilities and would love to meet a woman who’s a little (or a lot) of both.

Definitely needs a more comprehensive study.

I mean, it's not just heel / no-heel, right? I think you would need to consider a number of variables:

• Heel height
• Color of the footwear - do certain colors "work" better than others?
• Style of the footwear - for example open/sandal style vs closed, shoe vs boot, etc.
• Nylons or bare skin? With of course all the variations on styles and colors there.
• Skin tone.
• Musculature including thin, fit, slightly soft...
• Fundamental length of legs.
• Other attire from mid-length skirts to short skirts, shorts, lingerie, etc.
• Pose/activity - Walking, standing, sitting (various poses).
• Lighting conditions.
• Observer bias, we probably need several evaluators...

I suspect that there is no one "right" answer - that there are a range of results and attractiveness boosts provided under different circumstances. But in the interests of science I believe the time and effort must be put in. It might take weeks, months even of dedicated work.
