If you have to ask what I’m referring to, you haven’t been paying attention. :-)
Although “For What It’s Worth” is often considered an anti-war song, Stephen Stills was inspired to write the song because of the Sunset Strip curfew riots in November 1966—a series of early counterculture -era clashes that took place between police and young people on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California, beginning in mid-1966, the same year Buffalo Springfield had become the house band at the Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip.
This song must be listened to using headphones.
The tables have been completely turned, and even Frank realized this in the 80s and 90s, well after he wrote this song. He knew that McCarthyism would go full circle and the patriots would get it 1000X worse.
If anyone wants to know how this plays out, just look up the old time radio show called “I Was a Communist For The FBI”. Almost all of the episodes are extremely prescient, and very scary, considering that it’s becoming real now, from the highest level of government.
I see things getting very weird, very soon after January 20th. These nutcases are the apparently creating a new Stassi.
I may be just emotional due to the current issues we see, but damn, if it sure doesn’t feel warranted with the New Pravda and Thought Police running America now.
I sure hope there’s a way we can fix it and get back our Constitutional Republic that respects all American’s freedom. Wish us all luck.
TV dinner by the pool I’m so glad I finished school
Life is just a bowl of cherries run from city hall.
Susy? Susy Creamcheese?
Only 13 and she knows how to nasty, nasty nasty nasty.
And so my love I offer you a love that is strong
a prune that is true.
In that magic go cart I bite your neck...
sitting down to rock out right now. Zappa is still the greatest.
Well they’ve certainly installed The Central Scutinizer at Twitter and Facebook.
“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.”
― Frank Zappa
Plastic People
FZ: Ladies and gentlemen the president of the United States
RC as the President: Fellow Americans
FZ: He’s been sick. I think his wife will bring us some chicken soup
[Chorus]
Plastic people
Oh baby how you’re such a drag
FZ: I know it’s hard to defend such unpopular policy every once in awhile
[Chorus]
Plastic people
Oh baby how you’re such a drag
FZ: There’s this guy from the CIA and he’s creeping around Laurel canyon
[Verse]
Fine little girl
She waits for me
She’s as plastic
As she can be
She paints her face
With plastic goo
And wrecks her hair
With some shampoo
[Chorus]
Plastic people
Oh baby how you’re such a drag
FZ: I don’t know, sometimes I just get tired of ya honey
It’s a your hairspray or somethin’
[Chorus]
Plastic people
Oh baby you’re such a drag
FZ: I here the sound of marching feet down Sunset boulevard to Crescent heights and there at Pandora’s Box we are confronted with a vast quantity of plastic people
[Verse]
Take a day
And walk around
Watch the Nazi’s
Run your town
Then go home and check yourself
You think we’re singing ‘bout someone else...
But you’re plastic people
Now baby you’re such a drag
[instrumental break]
[Verse]
Me see a neon
Moon above
I searched for years
I found no love
I’m sure that love
Will never be
A product of
Plasticity
RC: Plastic people are; your foot, your hair, your nose, your arm. You eat, suck, your being is you plastic people. Blah blah blah. Plastic pebbles
(some Spanish cannot make out)
FZ: A prune is not a vegetable. Cabbage is a vegetable
Of course the point of the song is that it WAS happening here.
