For those who aren’t good at keeping their houseplants alive, don’t worry, LEGO has you covered. The Danish company is now selling plants you won’t have to (painstakingly) grow, but rather, you’ll just have to build.
LEGO’s new Botanical Collection features sets that let you turn bricks into floral arrangements. One is called the LEGO Flower Bouquet, and it includes 756 pieces which can be customized into roses, daisies, poppies, asters, and snapdragons. Let the florist in you go wild; you can create a flamboyant bouquet as high as 14 inches tall, or make smaller arrangements and spread them around the apartment.
The other set allows you to grow a bonsai tree in hours, instead of years. Called the LEGO Bonsai Tree kit, it includes a rectangular pot, a slatted wood-like stand, a bonsai tree, and green leaves. Once the summer season arrives, you can even change the green bricks with pink ones to make cherry blossoms bloom.
Both sets are green, in more ways than one. They include a number of elements made from sustainably-sourced, plant-based sugarcane plastic, an initiative the company started in 2018.
According to LEGO, they came up with the idea for the Botanical Collection after their 2020 Play Well Study found that seven in 10 adults consistently look for ways to unwind. Plus, 81 percent of respondents agreed that play helps them relax.
They’re cute, but I like real plants better.
Plants have feelings and will die if they don’t like the vibes in the house.
Fake plants. Haven’t we had those available for quite a long time?
Very creative.
I played with my son when he used Legos and Lincoln logs, but these legos that are oriented towards adults are pathetic.
Must be why most of mine flourish. I’ve turned my dining room into a greenhouse this year so as to overwinter as many of my outdoor plants as possible. I keep better track of their needs on the main level instead of relegating them to the basement, as I have done in previous winters.
I heard they’re coming out with Epstein Island Lego set.
the chinks already have them counterfeits made.
I killed an air fern...
And guests.
What are you trying to say?
I saw those in the new catalog that just came (briefly, before it disappeared into the territory of boys). Really cute!
Perfect for people that have a black thumb of death when it comes to plants.
With Weebles? :-)
According to the Lego website, the bonsai are “out of stock”.
Oh, I’m so sorry!
Personally, I thought they would be a creative outlet...for when Mommy needs a TIME OUT with a glass of wine and HER Legos, LOL!
However, I already have a crochet project going in every room of the house, plus a stack of Crossword Puzzles, Beau does the Sudoko (?) puzzles, and a Jigsaw Puzzle set up for us both to peck away at all Winter.
We are also re-learning to play Backgammon, which is probably not a smart thing to do with two uber-competitive people, trapped together in the wilderness of Wisconsin for the Winter.
See ya in the Spring! Maybe... ;)
