Looks like the DOW Industrials are apparently good pending a Democrat takeover. Perhaps we are the fools that can't see. I don't know. They have broken every rule of economics and governing and the markets are applauding it. Stocks are up across a broad range.
TAN is up 11% expecting big govt subsidies for solar. Thats how anyone makes money anymore.
- and of course "The Big Guy" will get his cut..
When Obama won, I moved all my investments overseas, except for some specific tech stocks and Coca-Cola.
When Trump won I moved them back.
It proved to be a good strategy.
Big business (read: “China & Co.”) wins.
Americans lose.
Go DOW!
Correctomundo pisan!
“Or maybe they know biden will throw HUGE stimuli into the economy like money is water”
That is the reason. Markets like people having more money to spend
I think we all will be “hit”. I’m just trying to mitigate it.
“And 60% of White women will cheer it on, while wishing they could have a Black lover/husband like they see in every commercial and show”
Isn’t that the truth. I have no issue with inter raced marriage at all, Gays is another discussion. My Wife is partial to all these Real Estate TV shows. I’d say that 40% of the “couples” are either gay or mixed race couples. TV commercials must be running 35% mixed ethnicity couples. Of course in reality the actual percentages of said couples is probably less than 1/2 of this. Woke agenda being shoved down peoples throats showing a phony made up reality.
Get back to us after they add 4 to 6 more Senators and pack the Supreme Court.
Economics are the least of our problems, they intend to shove their obnoxious social policies down our throat and go after their political opponents.
They will rig the system so a Pro-America populist opposition is impossible.
“Anyone have any answers”
Saint biden saved us! Praise him, comrades!
(sarc, of course)
More trade with China, open borders and more H1B. Yeah the DOW players love this.
“Who the hell knows what people think.”
A lot of mileage in that.
I can’t see why anyone would by Exxon or some energy stock. But Exxon is up over 3.5% today. I guess the price of oil will go up, but long run, the Green New Deal will no doubt make oil executives criminals.
Oil companies plan things out for decades. They have known about carbon pollution since the 70s, when they started their lobbying and propaganda efforts using the same tactics as the tobacco companies. At the same time, they started diversifying into other energy sectors; you can be certain that they will find profitable ways to use those empty oil and gas wells (carbon sequestration) and liquids distribution networks (carbon collection, synthetic fuel distribution). And even then, when hydrocarbons are no longer the dominant energy source, they will remain the dominant feedstock for a huge majority of industrial chemicals in manufacturing for decades to come.
Besides, the "Green New Deal" is just a shibboleth that Republicans trot out every so often to scare the base. It has no chance of becoming reality, and it never did. It's funny to see how widely the meme has propagated, though. It's almost as good as "death panels" in 2009 or "Bush is gonna start up the draft" in 2004. The reality is that Biden is a corporate friendly centrist who wouldn't dream of upending the economy in such a way, and even if he dies in office and Harris assumes the presidency, there are enough conservative Democrats that no such legislation will ever pass the Senate.
I really doubt they will abolish the filibuster, which means one Reconciliation bill a year can be passed on a 51 vote basis, and it will almost certainly have to be a budget bill, full of compromises and earmarks and arm-twisting. It is very unlikely to be some kind of AOC fever dream of socialist utopianism; more likely a centrist compromise bill that maybe reverts some of the high end TCJA tax cuts, tinkers with Obamacare (and probably doesn't get the public option Biden wants), and finally makes some kind of compromise on state bailouts vs corporate coronavirus liability.
I mean, that's what I predict after watching Washington politics for thirty two years or so.
I forgot to mention. I think Crypto is up because globally people are seeing the fall of America. Crypto is global and outside of the US the entire world sees the end of the stabalizing force of the United States is near. They are buying crypto to preserve their wealth.
If I'm right on that and I think I am. It's very very bad news for the United States. The world see's our country failing. The shining city on a hill is dying and no one appears to be willing to save it.
As long as the orders are written in Chinese.
Let’s not forget under Obama millions lost EVERYTHING and blamed it all on Bush. Now Trump will be blamed for EVERYTHING as the Socialists will have a blank check to do whatever they want.
Oh bullshit.
More Chicken Littles “The Sky Is Falling” freaked out people here than were on the Dummy board after Trump won.
Economics is *everything*, all other issues are just emotional soap operas.
I’m more concerned with the market after January 20th. That’s when we will have a tell.
The reason is the increased likelihood of $2,000 stimulus checks going out, vs $600.
And that’s why I wanted the 2,000. If we’re going down, why not at least get a crumb. People on here were against getting a dime. Why????
