SEVEN cops came storming into a CVS is Washington DC

Posted on 01/05/2021 4:25:28 AM PST by MNDude

I am in DC now and just went into a CVS to buy some alka seltzer. There was a short African employee working there and he said "put on your mask!"

I just ignored him and looked around for my merchandise. I took the elevator up and then all of a sudden seven cops approached me (led by this man) and told me to put on a mask.

I pulled out a mask and popped it on. The mask nazi was not happy and said "I want you to go!" The cops said I'd have to leave.

I dont really want to spend my time in DC in jail so I left.

I kid you not, FIVE cop cars were parked in front of CVS!

Either we choose freedom, or we obey.

See Post #110. Whose freedom are you referring to -- the customer's or the business owner's?

There's nothing more pathetic than someone claiming to stand up for "freedom" as he insists that he has a right to tell a business owner how to run his establishment.

If you want to shop in a pharmacy without a mask, either find one that doesn't require a mask or open one yourself.

****You arent willing to guarantee WITH YOUR MONEY that I won’t have a problem with COVID****

You aren’t willing to guarantee WITH YOUR MONEY that my friends, and millions of others can go to work and feed their families. This is NOT ABOUT YOU!

I think we're looking at this from two different perspectives.

Most people on this thread seem to be viewing this from the perspective of the CUSTOMER.

I'm looking at it from the standpoint of the BUSINESS OWNER. And I'm only looking at it from the business owner's perspective because in a free nation the customer ought to have no right to tell a business owner how to run the business.

These mask mandates are ridiculous. I don't obey them because a government official tells me to. I only obey them if I enter a private establishment where the business owner says I must. This is why I go out of my way to patronize businesses that openly defy these stupid edits.

I’ve been hassled at 4 different stores just for wearing one below my nose so I could breathe even though there’s plexiglass between me and the one who was cashier. Ive been told by random strangers as I pass by or stand in a line “Mam your mask has slipped” or “you need to cover your nose.” They don’t care if you have a doctor’s note for an exception. It’s one size fits all. All sheep must follow the herd. I’m not sick or coughing or sneezing yet I must block my airways and forfeit my God given right to breathe fresh air. No, this doesn’t sit well with me. I’m an introvert and not at all comfortable being scrutinized and accosted verbally while doing my business in public. The nerve some have. They need to mind their own business. I do. I keep a respectful distance and keep my mouth shut. They should do the same.

*** Keep in mind that I also believe a private employer should be able to exclude employees and customers for whatever reason he sees fit, too. ***

I support private property rights. Sounds like you do, too.

Amazing that some FReepers don’t. Things get weirder every day.

It’s actually comical to read this thread. It’s filled with people who insist we must make a principled stand for our freedom, and yet they’re supporting the original poster who meekly put on his mask as he was told. LOL.

It is ABSOLUTELY about me

You have no business bashing me when I want to wear a mask. You dont know my personal situation. You cant GUARANTEE I won’t have a problem. You cant explain away the concept of brownian motion in your bizarre attempt to tell me I dont need to wear a mask

Your political statements and views about politicians don’t have a damn thing to do with me and my risk

SO STFU when it comes to *****ME***** deciding to wear a mask based on physics unless you are willing to pay MY medical bills.

***If I sell my services to one client for $X and another client for $Y, neither one of them has any right to know what the other one is paying.***

That is a very Biblical way of doing business. In today’s climate, I hope you can maintain the veil. If you truly have one. One caveat, the government has no such leeway in the open. What it does behind closed doors is another subject. Are you perhaps behind one of those closed doors? Forget I even asked, of course you are not.

That's exactly right.

Some of my clients are subject to public disclosure rules -- mainly, they can be audited by government authorities at any time. My company would be completely off the radar screen because I am way too small for a government auditor to care about, but in these cases I try to be consistent in my dealings with the clients. I would probably be consistent anyway WITHOUT the audit issue, since the work I do for these clients is generally similar and would generally similar and subject to the same competitive pressure in my industry.

I remember when Festus Haggen did surgery on Doc Adams without a mask, and everything was fine.

Seriously, comparing surgical PPE with a Hello Kitty cloth mask Grandma made — not cool.

What you are doing is what I see typically happen.

You conflate different situations.

You tell me I dont need to wear a mask without knowing jack about my situation

When you get called on it you move the goal post to a social and political construct.

NO WHERE ON THIS THREAD DID YOU SEE ME SAY ANYTHING about lockdowns or or any other crap you want to fling at me that has nothing to do with me and my risk.

I want to wear a mask. I am at risk. You can’t disprove the Brownian motion concept.

So leave people alone who are trying to protect themselves

Meanwhile I was told by a CVS manager that they were not to try to prevent people from stealing.

If you wear a mask it is going to be covered with saliva and snot.

Do you wash your hands with soap immediately before putting your mask on or off?

Do you dispose of your mask in a biohazard bin?

Regardless if covid is a danger or not, you are spreading germs like Typhoid Mary every time you handle your mask.

Hey, wear a mask all you want. Just know that you have been at risk all your life. Why do you now feel it is imperative that you now must wear a mask. Do you know how many grandkids have killed their grandparents without even knowing it? What do you think are the odds of surviving the beach at Normandy?

Life is full of risk, don’t ever drive again if you are so fearful of life.

If you truly value life, how about stepping out of your own skin for awhile and see the destruction that mask mandates and lockdowns are perpetrating of people all over the globe, perhaps even people you know.

Love thy neighbor as thyself.

Good God what does Normandy have do with this

We have a virus that was likely man made. My body has never been exposed to it. I have no idea how my bizarre conditions will react nor do the Drs.

I want to wear a mask. I have science and PHYSICS to back up why I want to wear a mask

All the other mess that you are throwing out there is not relevant.

“Target and CVS to require face masks for customers”

So does Walmart. We don’t. Nobody cares.

No. Not in this case. CVS is a private business. They can say "must have a mask on to enter" the same way they can say "no shirt, no shoes, no service."

Tomorrow the government can say "everything open up and no more masks!" and CVS would still be allowed to make masks mandatory for walking into their stores.
