Was a Googler from 2004 to 2009, and watched it get more progressive in front of my eyes. The movement toward progressivism came in the form of the company just trying to not piss off radicals more than it did from radicals that were working there. Most engineers were not much into politics, were mostly into being nerds and engineers. But it became clear that it was expected that one go along with whatever the radical progressives were saying, but it was seen as, blah blah blah, ok whatever. Over time people that did not believe in the blah blah blah needed to be quiet about it. To appease the radical progressive nonsense the company hired some radicals to make sure things were politically correct. And then it got worse and worse. They decided they needed to protect their interests in the federal government and they needed to start lobbying....and they chose the side that was more corrupt and would help them cement their monopoly--which happened to be the side with the rising cancel culture type progressive a-holes who go after dissenters as if they were evil heatless monsters for disagreeing.

It never is by argument that the Left progresses. It is an unholy alliance of crony capitalists partnering with corrupt politicians, and an aggressive hive mind of self congratulating morally and intellectually lazy intolerant people who want to see themselves as better than everyone else without the bother of developing true virtues. The best we may be able to hope for is that the cancel culture destroys their masters and itself under its own horrible weight.
