I have 3 co-morbidities and contracted COVID in March.
7 days of low grade fever, upper respiratory distress and headache.
I lived.
Please, don’t be selfish and project your fears onto me in an effort to control my life.

For those people, the myth that wearing a mask will reduce that death risk is a delusion. It’s like believing that if TSA makes you take your shoes off, a terrorist hasn’t figured out a way to blow up the plane.
It’s a virus. It’s very contagious. A mask is not going to prevent that contagion.

The truth is herd immunity is the only thing that stops a virus. We can get that either naturally or artificially through a vaccine. Looks like you have both cases in your family.
For me, I choose the natural course, as the survival rate of this virus is extraordinarily high (a good thing!)
I will continue to not wear it.
I was covid+ and went through the Chyna flu. Wife got it, her mother got it at 95. My daughter got it, my niece got it along with her husband....just since December 7 approximately. No deaths, only one hospitalization of an older lady with diabetes...she is in bad shape. I skated through and I am being treated for cancer going on 3 years. Nearly my entire family is now likely immune. We should be getting checks for this. PS.....The flu was worse, although the muscle fatigue was intense. It was like weighing 300 lbs, not uncomfortable, but staying awake was nearly impossible....eat pills, steroid treatment sleep....for 17 days
I don’t call it a mask. I call it a muzzle. I am disinclined to being muzzled.
Are you wearing a fit-tested N95 or better respirator, and are you trained in donning & doffing PPE?
If not, then what you've got there on your face is a contaminated foamite / placebo and false sense of security.

My mask wearing had been for a few minutes here or there. Where they draw blood, for example, they won’t if you don’t play by their rules. Some Publix employees act like that famous scene in “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.” Then, one day, I had to wear it on and off for several hours. (Lowes, the bank, Costco...) Suddenly, I thought I was having a heart attack. My chest felt like I had a cement block on it. Then, from decades ago, I remembered what an asthma attack felt like. I had to get an inhaler. Now, every time I put on a mask, I have an asthma attack.
How about: I wear a Christian Cross everywhere I go. Maybe it helps, maybe it doesn’t, but I don’t see a harm.

I wear a mask in stores. If I need groceries or whatever I am required by state mandate to wear one in public buildings. I can’t afford to cut off my nose to spite my face. I don’t wear it outside nor in my home nor friends/family’s homes. I really get a kick out of people alone in their cars with a mask on.
I’ll play the game as long as I have to, to get food and provisions.

There is never really any way for the average person to protect themselves 100% short of walking around in a bio hazard suit and even then you will probably mess it up taking it off
Early on there was a Dr showing how to sanitize groceries. He had the counter split into two sides. I can’t remember exactly what he did but I said, DUDE, you just transferred the germs from the unsanitized side to the sanitized side..
Even he messed it up.

A face shield fits the legal requirement in most areas. Mine is very comfortable. Zippers onto a visor hat. Easy to see through. Bulgaria costume designer sells them.
