Macaroni Grill. There’s a place I haven’t thought of in years. We used to go there all the time. They had huge bowls of delicious pasta dishes.
Then for some dumb reason they changed their format to a type of walk up counter ordering style. And the dishes got smaller and less appetizing. They simply screwed up. I haven’t been there in years in years.

I love it. Going out to dinner tonight. Did not know about this but now will go to Corrabas for sure. I love that place anyway.

I haven’t thought of Buca di Beppo. We went often in CA, but I haven’t seen any in TN. Good food!
I can’t think of a better reason for a National Day than Spaghetti Day. Donuts maybe, and there is one of those.

Olive Garden serves a decent spaghetti dinner IMHO.

Pretty much my experience as well with Carino's. I lived in Lafayette, Louisiana for about 20 years, and that's an extremely difficult market for any national chain since the local restaurants are very, very good and very, very competitive. Carino's held its own in that venue for a while. I loved their lobster ravioli, and then for some reason they started skimping on the servings, raising prices and before too long, closed up shop.

Carinos. We used to go there for their Italian nachos. They were the best. Then they took them off the menu so there was no more reason to go there.

I usually make my own pasta sauce based on a store-bought such as Rao's marinara or The Meatball Shop's arrabiata and add mushrooms, maybe onions and bell peppers, and buffalo meat. I prefer buffalo meat to beef because it's leaner, and also to ground turkey, which doesn't have quite the right taste.
Today, I plan to eat oysters cooked in olive oil and crushed garlic served with pasta--probably shiratake spaghetti, which has no carbs or calories.

I use Carfagna’s Marinara Sauce (original recipe) for my pasta sauce quite often. Carfagna’s is a longtime Columbus, Ohio old style grocery store from the 20’s I think. I think the sauce can be purchased online, but I’m finally finding it in some of the better local markets. Really good stuff for anyone who wants to give it a try.
