Large green sea turtles were put on endangered lists years in Florida...that’s what killed turtle soup in my area...

I never ever saw turtle meat available in markets. I’ve always thought it was a food source in remote urban areas where swamps and ponds are available where locals such as an uncle would harvest them.

In the 70’s I used to eat turtle steak down in the Keys all the time. Then I guess they went on the endangered list.
