Say a prayer for New York City
New York Post ^ | January 2, 2021 | New York Post editorial board

Gotham’s in trouble. Not just because it’s suffering under the weight of crushing woes — soaring violence, out-of-control homelessness, a broken economy, a broke City Hall. And a population that can’t flee fast enough.

But also because none of the would-be saviors running for mayor is offering any meaningful plan to turn things around. And the primary, where the election is likely to be decided, is now less than six months away.

“Aren’t there any decent even slightly center-right people to choose from in NYC?”

No, there aren’t any.

It’s welfare-pimps and their moochers, crony cleptocrat supporting money bags and foreign money. Regular people left years ago. Now the leftists that can leave are finally fleeing.

No reason to be there anymore. NYC’s reasons to exist are all gone. You can do the same thing anywhere else, for less money, better weather, and more pleasant people.

Giuliani was the last authentic mayor of New York City. Whatever good was left in New York City government by Giuliani was not improved upon by Bloomberg and was abandoned by Di Blasio. That’s 12 years of stasis and eight years of decline. Yet New York City cannot survive on stasis much less decline. It has to be ever-changing and dynamic - the engines of its success.

You haven’t been there in quite some time. I can tell.

Last time was 2001. Had a corporate meeting in NJ just by the Lincoln Tunnel.

I didn't see anything that made me want to rush back.

The only thing that would save New York would be to allow it to economically collapse to the point where the welfare underclass could no longer be supported.

Why don’t you come down to Lexington Ave on Tuesday and drive with us down to the March for Trump?

An ethnic mayor would probably be the best thing happen to NYC right now. Think of a Muslim Mayor who’s a Democrat but is not PC and is not a “liberal” like the London Mayor. That guy would clean up NYC in a hurry.

Sorry No Prayers for NYC. They got what they voted for and Blas will go down as the Mayor who killed New York. It may take decades for it to come back, if ever.

And it [its return] can’t come soon enough.

These are dark days for NYC. In spite of those who want to bury it [like DeBlazio] , i hope it bounces back quadruplefold. :)

As of now the primary decides and the primary is controlled by the Marxists. Rudy won the first time because he got 80% of the votes on Staten Island. The second time was like Nixon in 72 and Reagan in 84. Bloomie won with Rudy’s endorsement and his money. But there are no HOPers of any stature. So once mar is wins the primary most voters stay home. Things are so bad that Eric Adams Brooklyn Boro Prez and anti cop 20 year cop, a Capt no less, is the moderate candidate.
