Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Wildlife officials in Utah said a 11-year-old boy landed a massive 48-pound trout just six months after reeling in a 41-pound trout.
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources said Tyler Grimshaw drew attention online in June when the then-10-year-old reeled in a 41-pound trout without any assistance at Flaming Gorge.
Grimshaw, now 11, bested his own catch this month by reeling in a 48-pound trout in the same area.
Both fish were released back into the lake.
"Way to go, Tyler," the division tweeted.
The Utah state record for lake trout stands at 53 pounds, 15 ounces. The record was set by Chance Scott at the Flaming Gorge Reservoir, the same place Grimshaw caught both of his fish.
Just a few big fish apparently.
Salt water fish taste better than fresh water fish, at least to me, for some reason..................
Probably none....................
This kid probably would have done it for free, if asked.
Are they good to eat?..................
Aw come on man, that is big mouth Billy Bass.
Yes, it was released, as was his previous catch.
Not having fished fresh water, only salt, it seems from what I read here that BIG freshwater fish do not taste all that great. It is not that way in salt water fish, thankfully.........................
After an hour to an hour and a half, you throw the carp away and eat the cedar plank.
So, they have lots of fiber?.........................

LOL - Just out of curiosity I scrolled through each of the videos at that link. They all show the cleaning and preparation of the carp, but I think most tellingly, none of them show anybody actually eating them :-)
They don’t look very pretty....................
Check this out:
Lake trout/mackinaw were seeded in Yellowstone in 1890, so they’ve been around quite awhile. They put them in Flaming and the Blue in Colorado. We’ve fished both. While you are correct, I don’t think they consider them invasive anymore. That lake, Flaming, is naturally cold water fishing and while beautiful, it can be nasty if any wind comes up but it’s worth the trip if you’ve never been.
In that part of flyover, Lake Powell is categorically the best fishing, most beautiful and I highly recommend if you get the chance. I’m prejudiced because I don’t really like cold water fishing, so I naturally recommend u skip Wyoming and Colorado and head to Utah. Go to Bullfrog marina in Utah, not Page, Az.. just my two cents.
That’s not a trout, that’s a carp in a trout suit.
It's the WKRP Carp!
GMTA!.................
