IMO they aren’t really comparable. Alloy frame vs. plastic (striker fired) makes they radically different. I love SIGs and CZs, and the 229 might edge out the 226 as the best pistol they (currently) make. If you compare them to CZ metal frame models by price CZ has some advantages, like a lower bore axis, while SIGs edge them out in other areas, like a better “out of the box” trigger.

Are we talking in a carry situation?

P229 is a bit smaller overall but the grip feels a bit thicker and more comfortable. 229 eats rounds like no other handgun. Flawless.

CZ’s are quality firearms, so can’t knock them. But I do use my Sig 229 as carry gun.

I do have a CZ P10c that I really like a lot as well, but just haven’t put enough rounds down range for me to feel good about carrying it. I did add an aftermarket trigger, and also have an optic for it. It’s my first pistol with an optic.

I have generally not liked the classic SIGs I have fired. I don’t like the high bore axis. They remind me of 3rd gen Smith and Wesson automatics.

The only CZ pistols I have are Cold War era, so they don’t apply here.

The only way to tell for yourself is to go shoot both at a rental range. If you can’t find rental copies, then at least hold them at the gun store. Ask permission to dry fire once or twice. Guns are always a personal decision.

Criteria for a fighting handgun:

1.Does it go bang each and every time you want it to?
2.It doesn’t it require certain proprietary manipulations to operate.
3.It uses readily available combat caliber ammunition.
4.It is both strong and weak hand friendly.

And finally,
5. Can its operator hit a desert sized target at 20 yards from the holster quickly and repeatedly with it.

All else is fashion and fluff.

I prefer the Sig P320, M17. It is a whole new beast.
