It needs a 2/3 majority because Trump will veto it.

No it needed 2/3 so they could move it on an expedited parliamentary timetable. Trump ASKED for this legislation, increasing the checks from $600 to $2000. He’s not going to veto an increase that he asked them to approve. Go back and read his signing statement from yesterday. He specifically asked Congress to vote an increase in the stimulus checks to $2000.

The printing press runs overtime at the Mint. We buy Chinese crap from Walmart and Amazon. Money goes to China so we can borrow it back from the Chinese plus interest

[I got it. You’re for the feds bailing out banks but not little guys.

That’s the old GOP. It’s the Romney GOP. And it’s back now that Trumps leaving. And it will never win the presidency again - just as MCCain and Romney couldn’t win.]

You obviously graduated from the Venezuelan school of economics. The banks are the little guy. Who do you think provides car, credit card, home and small business loans? No banks, no consumer financing except from Vinnie, your friendly neighborhood loan shark and legbreaker, who charges 2 points weekly, compounded. That means a 280% annual interest rate. The collapse of the banks is why the Great Depression occurred.

My wife and I are doing fine. There should be some sort of test to give the money. Not EVERY person needs $2k. Probably 70% of people don’t need the $2k. So, figure who needs it and come up with an explanation and a plan.

Conditional upon the rest of the omnibus spending being removed:

[I will sign the Omnibus and Covid package with a strong message that makes clear to Congress that wasteful items need to be removed. I will send back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress insisting that those funds be removed from the bill.]

For sure I don’t get a check.

Apparently I make too much money to be given back some of money, while others who pay little or no Federal tax are getting some of my money.

Yeah!

I won't send my money back.

Don't worry, the government will get it back when they tax it.

"Trump supports $2000. You oppose it - and him?"

Is that supposed to be the standard of virtue now? Whatever Trump wants, whatever it is, we're supposed to be for?

I have no problem giving $2000 to US citizen taxpayers who were victims of the biggest terror attack in human history, what I do I a problem with is US citizen taxpayers paying for freakin’ gender studies in Pakistan. WHY did Trump sign that?

DJT (for whom I voted three times) could propose a communist takeover of the federal government and mandate abortions for every third pregnant woman in the country, and his FR fanboys and fangirls would not only squeal in agreement, but blame every other republican in the country for having prevented communism and mandatory abortion up until now.

it’s beyond ridiculous. it’s actually getting funny now.

We abandoned conservative principles when we invaded Iraq. Since that time we’ve spent $7 trillion on mideast wars and occupations, and it continues today. The GOP and “fiscal conservatives” don’t complain. So I no longer complain about spending money here at home on Americans.

I realized that “fiscal conservatism” was a fraud when the fiscal conservatives - including Freepers - were ok with endless spending in endless overseas wars. Only when somebody proposed spending on Americans in America did “fiscal conservatives” start yelling “we can’t afford it!” They’re ok with limitless federal spending - but only for foreigners, foreign wars, foreign occupations, foreign nationbuilding, and foreign “aid”.

Yes. Not everyone gets that $2,000. The ‘rich’ get f’d and do not get a check.

The rich increased their wealth substantially during this pandemic and lockdown.

40 million Americans making vastly lower amounts if re-employed (up to 70% less) or they remain unemployed.

Eff the rich.

“Don’t get me wrong, I am a hypocrite. I won’t send my money back.”

I still have it and kept it as it has PDJT’s signature on it. In the future after the Civil War, the next generation will show their grand kids “this was the last check of the last great American President as he battled the Deep state bastards”.
