Yes, that’s right. Spaghetti in a burger. You heard me correctly.
The Oxford Circus branch of restaurant chain Honest Burgers has released a deep-fried spaghetti burger in collaboration with pasta restaurant Pastaio.
The branch was keen to work with Carnaby-based neighbours Pastaio to create the burger.
The burger, available for £12.50 for the forseeable future, comes with honey nduja mayonaise and smoked mozarella.
Honest Burgers explained: ‘Chef Stevie Parle’s (that’s the owner of Pastaio) nduja, mozarella and honey antipasto was our starting point.
It is a fried sandwich packed with flavours they love and know could go well with beef.’
The smoked mozarella comes from Italian-owned producer La Latteria and the British nduja is from the Crown & Queue, who make the cured sausage Devil’s Mortar in Bermondsey.
How about the spaghetti? It is added to the burger at the end for a bit of extra texture.
The gluten-free spaghetti is boiled, chilled, deep-fried and then scrunched between the mozzarella and mayo.
So what is the burger like? I love the smoked mozarella. The nduja mayo has an excellent kick to it. The spaghetti does add some excellent crunch.
I wouldn’t say it was very different from their shoestring fries, which are an excellent addition to their plant-based burgers.
In a way, the spaghetti isn’t as much of a main ingredient as you might expect. I could see softer spaghetti with melted mozarella also working a treat.
But how do pasta lovers feel about it?
An Italian friend, Daniele Palumbo, tells Bar Fox: ‘Fried pasta is really traditional in Napoli, but not where I’m from.’
‘I have naturally tried fried spaghetti and it is pretty good. I think Honest Burgers have made some good research.’
‘I still think that it would not add anything special to the burger itself as pasta loses its crunchiness pretty easily, but the meat and the Honest’s unique flavours would still make me eat it.’
It gets our vote… and I’d definitely eat it again. We’ll be eagerly looking out for any more burger collabs.
No.
Seperately, I may want to eat either the burger or try the fried pasta. Together, no. It would be like trying to eat
a boiled piano, not that I know what that really tastes like.
I tend to
Like simpler sandwiches so the whole trend of seeing how much you can pile onto a bun so if goes everywhere when you try to eat it doesn’t impress me much
Nasty.Ugh.
Does anybody remember seeing Dagwood sandwiches in the Sunday Comics section? Dagwood Bumsted was the husband of Blondie. Blondie was the name of the strip. Maybe that cartoon was the inspiration for these edible Lincoln Log sculptures.
Hold the spaghettis, put on a fried egg some fries and slaw...
No.
I second that.
As long as the slaw is on the side, I’m totally with you.
It’s like the Hunter’s Sandwich I saw in Field & Stream a few years back. Some deer hunters like to go out the day after Thanksgiving to try to fill their tag, and they can get hungry up in that tree stand. The sandwich was basically leftovers: two thick, chewy slices of bread, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce, slathered in mayo and wrapped in paper. The pic was mouth-watering and the ingredients all worked well together, but half of it would be down your camo by the time you were done, if you didn’t take precautions.
I’ll try anything once.
I made a spaghetti sandwich once, not too bad...not enough sphago for a bowlful, but the result was a good sammich!
Losing lunch in 5, 4, 3, 2 ...
Guilty. I like to make a sandwich with leftover spaghetti. Might have to go have one now . . . tastes good, tastes great . . . can’t wait!
“Yes, that’s right. Spaghetti in a burger. You heard me correctly.”
Nope, just as revolting as pineapples on pizza.

I think I just lost my appetite for any future hamburgers.......
Same here - simple and clean suits me just fine.
On the east coast there’s a gas station chain called WAWA. A lot of gas stations here have full deli’s inside their stores. Some of the food is memorably good. For instance, a Maryland based chain, Royal Farms makes about the best fried chicken around.
Anyway, around Thanksgiving every year, WAWA features The Gobbler. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and turkey gravy in a hard crust bun.
Talk about an awesome sandwich. Note: Not for eating while driving.
