Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine causing more allergic reactions than expected

The chief scientific adviser for Operation Warp Speed said the frequency of allergic reactions to the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine is higher than what would be expected for other jabs, according to a report.

Dr. Moncef Slaoui said the last time he was updated on allergic reactions was Tuesday, when there were six cases, and added that the data on COVID-19 immunizations is lagging behind the actual numbers, CNN reported.

Slaoui said discussions are underway between the vaccine makers and the National Institutes of Health to consider holding clinical trials of vaccines in very allergic populations, such as people who always have to carry anti-allergy medication in an EpiPen.

Sorry folks, but I believe the only way for Covid immunity is by "herd immunity". Yes, give the vaccines to the health care workers and the aged. Let it runs it's course with others.

The wife just informed me that her Daughter's room mate has tested positive and has light weight flu systems. He's in his early 30's. I'll keep all informed if his symptoms get worse and has to be hospitalized. I doubt it.

Yup. All the antivaxxers are literally orgasmic over six allergic reasons in hundreds of thousands if not a couple million. But her comes all the verbal vomit. Funny thing. They are just like liberals. Emotion is more important than logic and fact.

Oh and the usual contingent will tell us they don’t want the vaccine. FINE. DONT TAKE IT. But they are not satisfied with this. The must impose their will and therefore lockdowns and government control on everyone.

Talk about short sighted.

You do realize that vaccines create herd immunity. That’s sort of the point Of them

I got CIDP from a flu shot 21 years ago. Still have it. I don’t take these type of shots. Neither do my kids.

It’s a form of ‘virtue signalling’ for the anti-vaxxers to protest these vaccines. After all, they have to demonstrate that they are better people, more moral, than the rest of us because they’re trying to save us from the mean and evil pharmaceutical companies.

Ummmm: “Slaoui said discussions are underway between the vaccine makers and the National Institutes of Health to consider holding clinical trials of vaccines in very allergic populations, such as people who always have to carry anti-allergy medication in an EpiPen.”

I wonder how them “very allergic populations” fare with other vaccines - do you wonder too or was the opportunity to jump the shark just too convenient to care about?

Based on the six anaphylactic shock cases in the trials, anaphylaxis is running 22 times higher than with normal vaccines. There is concern it is caused by the Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) molecules used to deliver the vaccine.

My immunologist suggested I wait a few months before taking it.

The CDC posted these guidelines:

Interim Considerations: Preparing for the Potential Management of Anaphylaxis at COVID-19 Vaccination Sites.”

Anaphylaxis is an acute and potentially life-threatening serious allergic reaction. Severe allergic reaction (e.g., anaphylaxis) to any component of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine listed in the prescribing information is a contraindication to vaccination. Anaphylactic reactions in persons receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine outside of clinical trials have been reported. While these reports are further investigated, CDC considers a history of severe allergic reaction such as anaphylaxis to any vaccine or to any injectable therapy (e.g., intramuscular, intravenous, or subcutaneous) as a precaution, but not contraindication, to vaccination. Detailed information on CDC recommendations can be found in the Interim Clinical Considerations for Use of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine. These clinical considerations provide information on preparing for the initial assessment and management of anaphylaxis following COVID-19 vaccination. Institutional practices and site-specific factors may also be considered. In all cases, appropriate medical treatment for severe allergic reactions must be immediately available in the event that an acute anaphylactic reaction occurs following administration of a Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

*COVID-19 vaccination sites should have at least 3 doses of epinephrine on hand at any given time.
†Antihistamines may be given as adjunctive treatment but should not be used as initial or sole treatment for anaphylaxis. Additionally, caution should be used if oral medications are administered to persons with impending airway obstruction.

Correction: Her room mate is 57 and is in quarantine, but not sure if he is taking any therapeutics. The Daughter is 35 and now has it for almost 2 weeks with moderate symptoms. Yes, she tested positive twice at an Urgent Care facility and both positive, so its not the flu.

She is improving without any special therapeutics other than over the counter and rest. She had a little trouble breathing for a couple days, but that is now gone. She is recovering.

Yes, I do. Let’s see if they actually work. Until then, I’m not good with killing our economy.

From Science magazine four days ago:
Anaphylactic reactions can occur with any vaccine, but are usually extremely rare—about one per 1 million doses. As of 19 December, the United States had seen six cases of anaphylaxis among 272,001 people who received the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a recent presentation by Thomas Clark of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)...
That rate of six out of 272,000 is 22 times higher than 1 out of 1,000,000.

What is the allergic reaction rate for tetanus? Had a work friend at the Naval Research Lab whose blood pressure went zero when he got half a dose. The lab had a policy not to give any shots unless there was a doctor on duty. My friend was revived with an adrenaline shot to his heart.

I am a front line health care provider. I received the vaccine on Tuesday along with 5 of my co-workers. None of us had any after-effects. That being said, YMMV.

Thanks for your post.
I figure between the FReepers and black people shunning the vax I’ll get to the front of the line in January.
